George Dickel 8 Year Bourbon
Bourbon — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed July 30, 2021 (edited January 2, 2022)Nose: a bit ethanol-forward, but not overwhelming. Notes of green apple with caramel and a hint of vanilla. Maybe some fresh-baked bread? Taste: Thin. Very thin. Not nearly as ethanoly as the nose portrays. Again, bread like flavors. Caramel, almost an artificially sweetened caramel. A little fruitiness. No detectable rye. Finish: If drank fast, very smooth, no burn. If doing a Kentucky Chew, a little bit of ethanol burn, but nothing extravagant. You can tell the difference in this bourbon being charcoal chill filtered vs. those that aren’t. Still no detectable rye. This is my first Dickel product. For $30, this competes with the higher shelf bourbons that I’ve had. This will probably replace Buffalo Trace as my daily. I tend to like low rye and/or wheated bourbons, and this fits the bill. Only issue is it’s too smooth so it gets drank fast.30.0 USD per Bottle
