A complex malt, seems that nothing really puts itself forward as the standout note. I enjoyed the smokiness paired with the dark fruits, it made the initial tasting quite eventful. Will spend time exploring it further, but think this is worth a look for anyone looking to step up from a standard 10 year-old or blended scotch. Enjoy!

A delicious entry level scotch, a succinct offering from Talisker. The first proper salty note I’ve got on both the nose at first and upon taste to confirm. Whilst briny, the subtle smokiness paired with a light vanilla and maybe a tang (citrus?), ensures a journey at an excellent price. Brilliant first impressions.

Lagavulin Distillers Edition
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed November 8, 2020 (edited June 15, 2023)Nose: A sweet smoke, cherry and wood infused with a slightly medicinal note. Smoked paprika and dried meat towards the end. Taste: A little earthy and a touch peaty, and underlying berry note cuts through everything to ensure a complex but delicious taste. Some nuts too but can’t put my finger on which. Finish: Dry, long and slightly sweet, a lovely sipper for a late night, post dinner treat, especially if it’s cold.
