Laphroaig 10 Year Sherry Oak Finish
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed June 30, 2021 (edited July 1, 2021)Wouldn’t you know it; this tastes like Laphroaig 10! But finished in SHERRY CASKS! Of course we get the classic smoky, charred, tar from Laphroaig that we all know and love. BUT add in some dried fig and raisin, with a slight medicinal note on the nose, all mingling with a little cinnamon and clove. The palate starts with a light vanilla, and cinnamon dryness, and continues with a sticky vanilla/plum pudding. Some malt, pear, and apples come through after a little time on the palate, and then it finishes smoky. Slightly drying, with lingering fruitiness, a bit of vanilla. But magnificently smoky throughout. A beautifully delicious and smoky Single Malt from Laphroaig. God bless -

Reviewed July 26, 2018Review for the Reserve Solera finish: the nose is full of wood shavings, SK light dusty corn, astringency, and very small hints of citrus. the palate starts out light with a lovely powdered sugar , followed immediately by vanilla and some caramel, as well as that citrus coming back. it progresses into a vanilla cream and brown sugar, with a light splash of barrel char and oak. there is just a touch of rye spice and baking spices (cinnamon, clove). it finishes with vanilla, barrel char, and a huge amount of the rye character. it fades with a bit of rye spice on the back of the tongue and spread forth to the tip of the tongue, and lingers with a slight bitterness and maple-ish flavor. would have liked to give this 3.5 stars, but that's okay. overall, decent dram. would like to see this a tad older.
