This is the smoothest 80 proof I've ever drank. Butterscotch notes on the tongue. More sweet than smokey or spicy. Taste reminds me of a blended Canadian with something in there that reminds me of scotch and I'm not a big scotch drinker but this is good whisky me thinks.

Very nice bourbon at this price point. Color is a golden honey. Nose and tounge are both complex and have cinnamon as the predominant characteristic. Not spicy and strong on the senses that I usually associate with cinnamon but just a touch of cinnamon in the forefront. Maybe a lil' vanilla and brown sugar as the secondary. Probably in the bottom 10% for oak/smoke. If you didn't know bourbon sat in charred oak barrels for a short forever then this dram wouldn't reveal it.

Simple on the nose but I can't pin down what exactly the aroma is. Sweet and simple on the tongue. Generally love wheat whiskeys but glad I got a trial size of this one. It's a unique flavor. If you like it you'll love it most likely, but it wasn't for me.

The B520 was my favorite on my shelf of a dozen or so top shelf-ish bourbons. Went to get more whilst on the road since my residence is rather remote. Got this newest small batch instead. Compared them side by side and I definitely like this better. So much complex flavor for 133 proof. There is slight burn but it doesn't overpower the flavor and the next 130+ proof i drink with no burn will be the first. I'll get my greedy hands on every small batch# barrel strength Elijah Craig I can. Absolute steal at $63. Considering going and buying all i can before I head back to the hills.

Pretty balanced overall. Slightly more fruit on the nose but slightly more oak on the tongue. Easy drinker. Finishes clean. Good drink at this price point.

As the label would suggest, the wood/smoke aroma and taste are at the forefront but not over powering. There is a nuttiness and a sweetness in the background that is very complex on the tongue....maybe pecan or walnut with some combo of maple, vanilla, and.....birthday cake maybe?!?!?! Lack of rye is evident. If you like other Maker's and Weller this whiskey is a safe buy. Not to say it was or wasn't my favorite, in a recent sampling of ~10 or so bourbons, I found myself sniffing, sipping, and enjoying this longer than any of the others.

This bottle tells you to expect oak and it delivers two ricks worth of oak nose and flavor. Strong oak but yet somehow isn't overpowering. A subtle hint of black cherries and splash of cola are hiding in there on both the aroma and taste. If you don't like the smell please mail your bottle to me so I can dispose of properly. Your nose will not mislead your tongue on this one. Your brain will have to remind your mouth this is a full strength liquor as the flavorful smoothness will fool you.

Definitely read the label as it makes no qualms about what this is. A lil sweeter than what I would consider ideal but as it states "sherry casks" on the label, this is to be expected and thus well executed. More fruity than spicy on both the nose and tongue and more watery than thick. A decent length finish that ends quickly and leaves you satisfied temporarily.....and then another sip is calling. A good warm weather whiskey.

Balanced on the nose and tongue. Light tropical fruit aromas (coconut...banana) mix with spice. Neither strong or overpowering the other. The tropical fruit converges more toward apple or pear on the palate once again well balanced with the spice. The wonderfully balanced flavor fades on the tongue longer and more welcome than a campfire on the first cold spell of an early fall evening. As this bourbon is hotter than the previously mentioned campfire, i did enjoy better with a splash of water but go easy. A lil bit really cut down the burn that was really quite mild for such a high proof.
