Monkey Shoulder Blended Malt
Blended Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed March 24, 2020 (edited May 11, 2020)Nose - Orange marmalade, vanilla, and cooking spices. Taste - Biscuits, honey, and toast. Finish - Medium length, some oak spice. You are greeted by the sweet smell of vanilla and orange marmalade that follows the palate into a tasty concoction of buttered toast and biscuits. This is a very approachable whisky and it is an excellent gateway into the world of Scotch whisky at an affordable price. Monkey Shoulder is marketed as a single malt mixer and this probably would make a good cocktail. However, I would not use a $30 Scotch in a cocktail. I believe you could get an adequate result with a cheaper American whiskey. This tastes too good to crowd or dilute it.29.99 USD per Bottle -

Knob creek Single Barrel Select Bourbon W-X F-06 R-039 (Kroger Wine & Spirits)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed March 18, 2020 (edited December 23, 2020)Nose - Oak spice, caramel, cinnamon spice, mint, citrus fruit, strong alcohol vapor. Taste - Honey, caramel and brown sugar, vanilla, oak. Finish - Quick sweetness, long spice and alcohol burn. This in an exceptional whiskey that bludgeons you with flavors. On the nose, you are hit with a hint of oak, followed by baking spices, and fruit. The taste begins with honey. For me, it conjures memories of my great Grandmother who always had fresh honey. She was a bee keeper that traveled town to town selling honey. Following the honey, there's brown sugar and caramel, then vanilla, and finally a hint of oak carries over from the nose. On the finish, the sweetness vanishes rapidly, but it is followed by a longer spice tingling on the tongue and warming from the high proof. Highly recommended. If you spot a Knob Creek Single Barrel Select, be sure to grab one before it is gone.44.99 USD per Bottle -
Woodford Reserve Double Oaked
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed March 13, 2020 (edited June 30, 2020)Nose - Sweet vanilla, maple syrup, marshmallow, dark cherry, and oak. Taste - Full-bodied, toffee, rich oak and vanilla sweetness. Finish - Long and warming, chocolate, some spice, and caramel. This bourbon smells and tastes like maple syrup and pancakes. I am not sure I could ever endorse drinking in the morning, but this would make a fantastic addition to any breakfast. It tastes like all the delicious homemade things I remember eating as a kid. This bourbon truly is a masterpiece and I would definitely call it a favorite.46.99 USD per Bottle -
