Springbank 18 Year
Single Malt — Campbeltown, Scotland
Reviewed May 17, 2020 (edited August 2, 2020)Nose- Raspberries, bananas with brown sugar, honey, wave of peat, followed by the signature cambletown funk Palate- honey initially, blending into bright fruits, chili oil, earthy peat, olive oil, vanilla Finish- long, spicy finish with notes of chili spice, vanilla, and ripe fruits Really good whiskey overall. The nose is full of bright fruits, along with complimentary notes of bananas and honey. The palate starts with a wave of honey and fruits, which then moves to a short bout of peat, and is overtaken by a wave of chili spice. The finish is dominated by the spice and my only complaint is that the finish becomes a little simplistic. -
Compass Box Rogues' Banquet
Blended — Miltonduff, Glen Elgin, Clynelish, and North British, Scotland
Reviewed May 15, 2020 (edited October 11, 2022)Nose- Waxy apple, ginger, honey, toasted marshmallows Palate- Ginger spice initially, wave of tropical fruits, honey, creamy vanilla Finish- medium, creamy finish with notes of ginger and soft tropical fruits Hmm. This is good stuff, but doesn’t blow me away. Lovely toasted marshmallows on the nose, along with waxy apples and honey. The palate coats the mouth in ginger spice, followed by muted tropical fruits and honey. Nice creamy mouthfeel, but the palate and finish feel muted. I think this bottle needs some time to open up and it could be great. Will revisit in a couple months. -
Woodford Reserve Distillery Series Double Double Oaked 2019
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed May 9, 2020 (edited February 1, 2022)Nose- Candied almonds, musty oak, caramel, vanilla, strawberry jam Palate- Wave of dusty oak, cherries, caramel, bitter almonds Finish- Medium, drying finish with notes of oak, caramel, and sweet fruits This surprised me in a great way. I was expecting an overpowering amount of oak, but it’s perfectly balanced. Lovely, sweet nose, with unique flavors of strawberry jam and almonds. The palate introduces a heavy amount of oak, with deep cherry notes and caramel. The finish could be longer, but this whiskey is great. -
Batch 13- 9 Year Old Nose- caramelized banana, lemons, cherries, dark caramel, vanilla, espresso beans Palate- Spiced oak initially, wave of honey sweetness, lemon oil, baking spices, caramel, espresso Finish- Long, mouth coating finish with notes of baking spices, caramel, and espresso Mmm. Great stuff. You can taste the age right off the bat. Unique flavors of espresso from the nose to the finish. The best way to describe this is dark and thick. I would order this at a bar any day if I saw it, but for the price point, I would rather pay just a bit more for Birthday Bourbon. Regardless, a fantastic pour that you should share with other bourbon lovers.

Blanton's Single Barrel Red Label (Japanese Edition)
Bourbon — Kentucky , USA
Reviewed May 4, 2020 (edited July 15, 2022)Nose- Sweet cherries, citrus, vanilla, bubble gum Palate- Bubble gum sweetness initially, citrus, tiniest bit of oak Finish- medium, oily finish with notes of sweet citrus A bit simple. Enjoyable pour, but not overly complex and the 2 year age increase from original blanton’s isn’t noticeable in the slightest to me. All sweetness on the nose, a bit of oak on the palate, and a forgettable finish. -
Stagg Jr Barrel Proof Bourbon Batch 12
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed May 4, 2020 (edited July 18, 2020)Nose- Almond croissants, fruit punch, cherry, vanilla custard, ethanol, cooked fruits, icing sugar Palate- Ripe fruit initially (raspberries, rainier cherries) wave of dry oak, spice, almonds, tropical fruits Finish- Long, drying finish with notes of dry oak, tropical fruits and a light leather note Wow. Not only does this live up to the hype, it blows it out of the water. If you poured this blind into a glass and told me it was a $400+ bourbon, I would absolutely believe you. The nose is fantastic, full of ripe fruits and sweet sugary notes. The palate drinks way lower than the proof and is equally as enjoyable as the nose. The finish is, as expected, long and full of tropical fruits, oak and leather. Hell of a pour. -
Old Carter Straight Rye Batch 2 (2018 Release)
Rye — Indiana , USA
Reviewed March 22, 2020 (edited August 18, 2021)Nose- Maple, buttery pie crust, caramel, brown sugar, cardamom, cinnamon Palate- Baking spices, dusty oak, cinnamon, peaches, pecans, caramel Finish- Long, drying and spicy finish with notes of pecans, baking spices, and dusty, aged oak This is a big hitter. Bold and spicy although out. Wonderful, rye forward nose. Notes of maple and buttered pie crust keep it balanced with some sweetness. The palate is unmistakably a rye. Baking spices, aged dusty oak, and caramel for days. Nice long finish to wrap things up for this impressive, bold and tasty rye. -
Cream of Kentucky 11.5 Year Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed March 20, 2020 (edited January 19, 2022)Nose- Pecan pie, pears, cocoa powder, caramel, vanilla, apples Palate- Pecans again, oak, cinnamon, red apples, caramel, rye spices Finish- Medium-long, chewy finish with red apples, rye spices, and pecan pie Nose is very good. On the sweeter side for sure, with a distinct pecan pie note that sticks out. Theres also fresh fruits, vanilla, and caramel. The palate is the opposite of the nose. The pecans show up immediately, but quickly give way to oak, spices, and a bit of fruit. The finish could be longer, but is very enjoyable, with that familiar pecan note and delicious red apples. -
Nose- Lemons, orange, sea spray, butter, caramel apples Palate- Apples, brine, melted butter, vanilla, bit of spice Finish- short, oily finish with notes of vanilla and spice Forgettable. The nose is fantastic, but the palate fails in comparison and is very simple and subtle. The finish is short and just okay. Would not buy a bottle of this.

GlenDronach Parliament 21 Year
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed March 10, 2020 (edited December 13, 2020)Nose- Raisins, dark fudge, plums, red grapes, walnut, red apples Palate- Raisins, wood spice, dark chocolate, plums Finish- Medium, oily finish with notes of raisins, dark fruits, and wood spice Underwhelming. Quite a surprise... the 12, 15 and 18 rock. This is quite one dimensional. It’s all sherry, and nothing else. Raisins dominate throughout everything, and especially at this price, this disappoints me. I get a little bit of PX notes, and the nose gets better over time.. but the palate is dominated by Oloroso, which i’m not a fan of.
