Russell's Reserve 10 Year Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed September 17, 2014 (edited October 3, 2014)Very nice. The aroma of oak and sweetness is strong. The wood is present in the flavor, too, and there's a mild spiciness. The alcohol burn stays through the finish and keeps the cheeks and back of the mouth warm. A little water brings out more sweetness. -
Four Roses Small Batch Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed September 8, 2014 (edited February 9, 2015)A light aroma; I can sort of pick out a little toffee or caramel, cinnamon, and nutmeg. The taste has a herbal/fruity/floral tea-like quality to it, and it finishes medium-long with cinnamon flavor. It goes down smoothly; I don't really notice much alcohol burn until after it's drunk. A little water brings out the little sweetness there is. I like this one more each time I have it. -
Jim Beam Black Label Double Aged 8 Year
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed September 1, 2014 (edited October 5, 2014)This is what I thought bourbon was before becoming more experienced. Aroma of oak, smoky, spicy, and alcohol. Taste is pretty much the same. Occasionally I think I notice a little vanilla. I don't particularly enjoy it. *Far* better than the white label.
