Eagle Rare 10 Year Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed December 23, 2019 (edited December 24, 2019)Quite sweet. Red and green apple with vanilla, spice and dark caramel. Rich, full flavor with a slight bite yet easy to drink and dry, cat-tongue finish. -
Evan Williams White Label Bottled in Bond Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed December 21, 2019Solid traditional bourbon. Vanilla, cherry, banana and caramel with a bit of peppery spice. The higher proof brings some heat, but it fades pretty fast and overall easy to drink. Maybe best value for the <$20 price range. -
Laphroaig 10 Year
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed December 15, 2019 (edited December 25, 2019)Smokey, salty band-aids with barbecue brisket. A rich deep flavor that continues to grow and evolve long after the finish. -
Highland Park 12 Year Viking Honour
Single Malt — Islands, Scotland
Reviewed December 15, 2019 (edited December 21, 2019)A perfect scotch in my opinion. Dark fruit, date-like sweetness with just enough smoke to make it interesting but not overpowering. The vanilla and rich earth tones make it almost a bourbon-like character but still maintains everything great about scotch. -
Glenfiddich 12 Year
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed December 13, 2019 (edited December 18, 2019)The purest example of a Speyside scotch. Apple/pear with a bit of spice and VERY subtle smoke. Floral and sweet but not overly sweet and a rich finish. Nothing fancy or overly interesting, but a damn fine scotch great for beginners and veterans alike.
