Always trying to stay in good spirits :) I’m searching for the ideal bottles of each spirit for my home bar. This is my opinion on what’s available in Ontario.

Spicy heather, raw oak and beautiful sherried dark fruit sweetness. At similar quality and at half the price of Tryconnell’s Sherry Cask Finish it’s a good sherried option. $50 in Ontario.
    50.0 CAD per Bottle
  2. Scapa Glansa

Fairly smooth with heather honey, sweet stone fruit, and a light soft plume of peat smoke. A little ethanol bite but decent for the price. $84 in Ontario.
    84.0 CAD per Bottle

Honey and mild to moderate sherried fruit sweetness enveloped in a puff of peat smoke. Finishes fast. Decent flavour but a bit simple, just a hint astringent. $75 in Ontario.
    75.0 CAD per Bottle
  4. The Botanist Gin

    Modern Gin — Islay, Scotland

Mostly lemon with gentle juniper, light floral softness and the slightest oily background. It’s well made but I was expecting more. The citrus dominates the profile and leaves it kind of plain tasting. $50 In Ontario.
    50.0 CAD per Bottle
  5. Four Roses Small Batch Bourbon

    Bourbon — Kentucky, USA

Sweet caramelized/toasted oak, corn, gentle floral rye spice. It’s the perfect middle ground between the simple velvety standard Four Roses and the complex Single Barrel. For the $7 price difference I’d take Single Barrel any day. In comparison (and in general) this comes across as just a bit thin. $48 in Ontario.
    48.0 CAD per Bottle

Heather spice, oak, honey and gentle dark sherried fruit. Decent but too much heather for me. Not available in Ontario.

Dark and funky. Bittersweet dark chocolate, molasses, toasted oak, caramel, vanilla and baking spices. Slightly dry. Like a step up from Havana Club 7 Year. Not available in Ontario.
  9. Herradura Ultra Añejo Tequila

    Tequila Añejo — Mexico

Definitely the best Cristalino I’ve had so far (I do love Herradura). Unlike Don Julio’s Clara this actually feels substantial. Not as bright and fruity as the Reposado. Just as sweet but not as syrupy as the Anejo. It follows Herradura’s fruity profile but it’s got a smoky depth to it. Like the rest of Herradura’s expressions it’ll come off a little astringent sometimes depending on your palate. Unfortunately not available in Ontario.
  10. Dulce Vida Blanco 100 Proof Tequila

Tequila Blanco — Los Altos, Jalisco, Mexico

Perfectly sweet vegetal agave with a rich mouthfeel and gentle mouth warming heat from the ABV. Not a ton of character but well rounded for a blanco. Not available in Ontario.
