Stagg Jr Barrel Proof Bourbon Batch 17
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed December 27, 2021 (edited January 7, 2022)Was excited to pick up the last bottle of this at a liquor store in North Dakota. Bold and viscous with lots of caramel, brown sugar, vanilla, and oak. Long finish that leaves you reeling. Well worth the retail price of $60. -
Wathen's Single Barrel Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed August 30, 2021 (edited December 2, 2022)Smooth and silky with notes of vanilla and fermented mashed banana. I strongly prefer the barrel proof version, but this is a pleasant sipper. -
Laphroaig Càirdeas 2019 Triple Wood Cask Strength
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed July 5, 2021This remains a robust peated scotch even after adding a few drops of water. Plenty of oak, with notes of black licorice and a touch of vanilla sweetness. Lots to contemplate on each successive sip. -
Lagavulin Offerman Edition Guinness Cask Finish
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed June 28, 2021 (edited June 29, 2021)Like Offerman himself, this is proudly unique. Toasted banana bread on the nose with cocoa notes and a touch of mint on the palette. Moderate finish length. -
Wathen's Barrel Proof Bourbon (58.68%)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed June 27, 2021 (edited January 30, 2022)One of my go-to bourbons at my local whiskey bar. It's medium bodied, but with a wealth of flavors to contemplate on a loooooong finish that dries out my mouth and leaves me reeling. A bit musty, with notes of grass, vanilla, and buttery caramel.
