New England Barrel Company Small Batch
Blended American Whiskey — USA
Reviewed May 20, 2023 (edited August 9, 2023)Nose: Hints of sweetness with some vanilla but more cereal, and ethanol. Palate: Stone fruit, vanilla but really quickly transition to strong baking spices. Finish: Medium to long with more cinnamon spice. For three years old this batch is a good blend that emphasizes the sweetness and spices in the liquid despite its young age. -
Frank August Small Batch Kentucky Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed April 23, 2023 (edited February 16, 2024)Who is Frank August? If you visit their site they say, "Frank August is a call to be open and undisguised. An invitation to come together and share in America’s spirit." Which is funny because there's not a lot to be known about the liquid inside the very stylish bottle. We know it's 100 proof, probably sourced from Kentucky, and small batched from 10-15 barrels. We also know Frank August isn't a person. The real person behind Frank August is Johnathan Crocker, a former fashion executive. Knowing that helps puts Frank August into perspective, to an extent this bourbon is very high fashion. Nose: Buttery shortbread cookie Palate: Rich, vanilla, and sugary like a baked chess bar Finish: Short, fades away as mysteriously as it arrived This bourbon is classic and refined- not edgy or complex like higher proof or older bourbons. In a sense, it's like a dressy pair of jeans: it looks good, it fits the role of denim, but you wouldn't wear it while doing some serious work outside. -

Nose: Some funk along with subtle caramel Palate: Rich vanilla with a good heaping of oak and char Finish: Long with more oak and some slight tannic notes While I'm generally a fan of Old Fitzgerald's Bottled in Bond decanter series, this one has the goods to earn the name but it's not in my wheelhouse.

Nose: Vanilla amd a slightly fruity nose Palate: Vanilla cream frosting , a rich body and feel Finish: Medium to long, the sweetness continues theoigh the finish and lingers at the back of yhe throat. Now a Kentucky only-release, this is a simple but well done wast sipper. It can be found in the $50-$40 range, for $40 and under it’s still an ok value but at prices hifher than that there’s other options.12.0 USD per PourEvan Williams Bourbon Experience

Nose: Some vegital notes followed with faint vanilla Palate: Vanilla and a hint of corn Finish: very short, but a little hug at the back of the throat as it goes down Overall Boone is a younger, serviceable bourbon that hits the typical profile bit doesn’t offer much else. Easy to sip while watching the game and munching on snacks.Montgomery Inn- The Boathouse

Nose: Butterscotch, baked spice cake Palate: Carmel, vanilla hints that quickly transitions to spice and some char Finish: A medium finish that lingers a little bit on the tongue with a pretty sweet profile If Maker's Mark is your classic wheated bourbon, then Wyoming Whiskey is its frontier cousin. It has classic bourbon notes but with more of an cowboy edge. An enjoyable sipper but it is a little rough around the edges.
