Connemara 12 Year Peated Single Malt
Peated Single Malt — IrelandTastednot sure how much this costs as I'm sipping this one courtesy of a Flaviar sampler. I like it. It starts real sweat and peaty. Peaty! vanilla! peaty! vanilla!! boom!!! it's screaming it at the top of it's lungs. I get it! The nose is warm and friendly. That buttery hint of an aired out bourbon. Not much going on though. It's more in the sips, but it's not bad. The taste lingers long enough. Since I don't know how much it costs for a fifth, I'm going to guess this is somewhere between $30-$100, and I haven't drank a whisky in a long time so maybe I'm being generous or cheap.... if you're normally into Irish and about to try scotches this might be a perfect transition into the world of peatiness..
The Glenlivet 18 Year
Single Malt — Speyside, ScotlandTastedon the nose it's whatever: super oaky Evan Williams-ish with a touch of toffee, but saved by the swig... spicy smoothness with mild peat and smoother oaky flavor, leaving you thirsty for more.99.99 USD per BottleJason's Wine & Spirits
Old Overholt Straight Rye Whiskey (80 proof)
Rye — Kentucky, USATastedreally good I liked it a lot especially at this price point17.99 USD per BottleJason's Wine & Spirits
Dalmore Cigar Malt Reserve
Single Malt — Highlands, ScotlandTastedgoing down this is so good.... I don't get much on the nose but I'm also not drinking this with a cigar dangling in my hand. salty, nutty, bold, peaty. yeah this is a fun scotch. I dig it.
Ron Diplomático Reserva Exclusiva Rum
Aged Rum — VenezuelaTastedright off the bat I get this real spicy burn instantly blanketed by a somber complex sweetness. The best way I can describe this is like a children's slide. a lot going on with a fast finish but it all happens sequentially. I highly recommend buying many fifths. This is an awesome sipping rum. No wonder it's so popular.
Peated Single Malt — Islay, ScotlandTastedvery complicated. spicy, sweet, smells like clean rubber and caramel, pretty quick on the finish, but smooth going down... recommendedJason's Wine & Spirits
Peated Single Malt — Islay, ScotlandTastedvery invasive. it's like a dropkick of scotch to the face, ambush of the mouth. not much to the nose, not too sweet, but definitely sweeter than monkey shoulder... if you like peat, the finish dances with peatiness for quite some time. no complaints overall, I would definitely recommend getting a fifth of this. interesting enough..Jason's Wine & Spirits
George Dickel No. 8
Tennessee — Tennessee, USATastedabsolutely horrible. forgot to get something to drink at work, so I had a shot of Evan black and Dickel to start the night cap. I started with Evan which I'm used to, but man going down the Dickel 8 is so unpleasant. I will admit after some aeration the nose has that buttery bourbon sweetness but the taste is just so awful.Jason's Wine & Spirits
Jameson Caskmates IPA Edition
Blended — IrelandTastedVery strange tasting. A lot going on. I bought a shot and definitely noticed hints of IPA smell and flavor on the nose and pallette. It's weird, it's cool, you should get it, but not a small size. This would be a fun liquor to try with a bunch of different IPA pairings. I recommend getting a pint or bigger...Jason's Wine & Spirits
Rye — Illinois, USATastedsuper herbal, super piney, brutally spicy yet somehow smooth and a little oily. meh
