Tastes

It comes off very woody and smoky initially, but there is nice complexity mid-palate. Creamy vanilla, cherry, overripe banana and smoke make appearances. Cinnamon and clove keep it very warm. Long, spicy finish.

The nose is really nice, showing toffee and caramel. There’s a constant sweetness throughout that makes this really enjoyable to sip neat. Maple, pecan, leather, a little smoke and ample pepper on a long finish.

The nose has a caramel and brown sugar presence with oak. I get corn sweetness on the front. I’ve always felt that the flavor profile of this is really balanced and full. Just the right amounts of sweetness and heat. I enjoy it straight up or in an Old Fashioned. To me this is still one of the best sub-$25 Bourbons around.

Smoke and sandalwood nose. Intense palate with toasted cereal, pine, raw sugar and a spicy, long finish. I’m admittedly not a Scotch aficionado, but this is tasty.

After thorough swirling, the nose opens up with vanilla, orange peel, leather and wood. Light brown sugar, wood, sawdust. Lots of cinnamon and hot pepper on the finish,

Simple nose really just shows alcohol, but a drop or two of water released faint vanilla, orange and toffee aromas. The palate isn’t super complex either. Seems higher in Rye than wheat, to me. A little caramel with a ton of wood. This is ok, but probably destined for Old Fashioned duty, which is fine.
