Initial sniff; I’m getting a moderate to strong oaky/ hot sweaty high school wrestlers gym sock and light contrasting hint of month old, kosher, hot dog water. First sip, is a thick yet pungent maple sweetness that reminds me of Yoda’s inner thigh after a marathon, mixed with a port-o-john urinal cake at a Kenny G concert. The finish is interesting, complicated, a combination of big foot’s grundle after a walk-for-a-cure, mixed with the last lap of a Daytona 500 driver’s hairy, wet and saucy ass crack and old copper penny. The guys that buy this are the same guys who do cross fit and think bad boys 2 is the best movie ever made. Hey, if you enjoy the taste of post workout nut sack, more power to ya.

Kentucky Owl Confiscated Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed March 14, 2022 (edited May 5, 2022)Initial draw; difficult but peppery caramel. There is a strong wheat aroma with a hint of sweetness. Initial sip; bitter complexity of dark chocolate and pepper. Beyond the bitterness there is a caramel vanilla finish. Kentucky owl, is unlike anything else. It’s a profound flavor that takes quiet contemplation to figure out it’s mystery. Overall, it’s very good. I wouldn’t say it’s better or worse than the high end Buffalo trace bourbon. It’s different. Worth a try at the least. Let me know what your thoughts are. -
Angel's Envy Private Selection Single Barrel Bourbon Finished in Port Wine Barrels
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed March 14, 2022 (edited September 9, 2024)Initial draw, you can smell the port wine within. Impressive aroma. First sip, molasses and butter, red wine, slight but hardly noticeable burn. Rough wheaty, maple syrup finish. I have to say, you cannot compare angles envy to any other bourbon. It’s has such a unique flavor profile and such a desireable complexity that it must be put in class of its own. If the distillers could somehow flatten out the slight bitter finish, it would surpass Pappy Van Winkle 12 year. -
Mild oak with creamy Madagascar caramelized vanilla extract. Layered with a salted buttery body, with simple, vague yet delectable birthday cake finish. Not a harsh or bitter element in this bourbon. It’s perfect. Literally… it’s perfect. The oak is not overdone like the 23 year. I could care less about other opinions. To me this is the best bourbon on planet earth. Simply perfection at its best. Nothing out actually compares. Period.

Initial smell after sitting open for 5 minutes smells like a caramelized crème brûlée. It is the most impressive aroma of any bourbon out there. Period. It should be noted; I am hammered at this point. But I’m pushing through, because I’m passionate about the bourbon profession. The initial draw is a deep complexity, smooth spice that’s starts with a sweet buttery caramel and ends with a bitter oak.
