Kentucky Owl Bourbon St. Patrick's Edition
Bourbon — Kentucky , USA
Reviewed April 2, 2022 (edited June 1, 2022)This is 100% worth $125.00 per bottle. It’s a pappy 12 year smooth bourbon, yet no harshness like in so many 100 dollar bottles, the nose is interesting… lots of notes of caramel, predominately premium new saddle leather, a little hint of vanilla, marzipan, molasses. I mean this in 100% certainty, having tried 99% of all Kentucky bourbons, this is most confusingly familiar, interesting and by far and away the best note out there. They should make this into cologne. It’s contemplative with soft complexity that keeps you interested but not overwhelmed. The draw is initially sweet, it’s tickles all right senses as it challenges you to place the familiar yet distinctly new flavors that you are consistently close to naming but just quite can’t put a finger on. The finish is a warm and gentle spice like a refined, mellow and rare barbecue sauce. This is a first class bourbon, a true masterpiece, something to be collected and savored. Master Blender John Rhea of Kentucky Owl and Irish Whiskey Bonder Louise McGuane of Jameson came together for this limited release for St. Patrick’s day and hit a world record breaking home run. For those that say it’s overrated or not worth the $125.00. I say to them, they’re wannabe hipsters that wouldn’t know the difference between gasoline and a tall frosty glass of go f*** yourself. It’s one of the best to date and will go down in history as such. Period. -
Not a huge fan of scotch. I will refrain from giving my comment on this as I do not enjoy any scotch made. It would be unfair to rate something so poorly that so many actually enjoy and can give a more in depth review. I get a very bitter, peat moss and wet dog flavor profile. It finishes harsh and seems to be over powered by a charcoal and Smokey foundation. I’m sure it’s very good for those who enjoy scotch, I am not a fan, wouldn’t buy again.

Kentucky Owl 10 Year Rye (Batch #3)
Rye — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed March 26, 2022 (edited October 14, 2022)A lot more complexity than the regular Kentucky owl. It’s a little smoother, less burn, it offers some interesting profiles. I’m getting a dark chocolate and molasses tone, some fig and licorice in the middl. It finishes nicely with a kick, a pleasant yet tolerable spice that keeps you coming back again and again to figure out the cooled flavor profile. This is one of the more interesting bourbons out there. It’s not a familiar friend like weller reserve, not as smooth as an EH Taylor single barrel, but has a softer, and more complex flavor profile than a top end Handy Sazerac. Which, in this case, I would 100% prefer this over a rare Sazerac or small batch EH Taylor. It’s better all the way around. Not better than a single barrel though. It’s different, this is a must have to complete any bourbon collection.299.0 USD per Bottle -
Rémy Martin 1738 Accord Royal Cognac
Cognac — Cognac, France
Reviewed March 25, 2022 (edited May 31, 2024)I’ve never spit out an alcoholic beverage before. The initial draw is similar to hot swamp water and three week old Hilary Clinton workout leggings. Tasting notes of dirty saltwater fish tank with hints of bitter, rancid litter box and finishes almost exactly like a blend of Yoda’s hot sweaty inner thigh and big foots grundle. -
LARCENY KENTUCKY STRAIGHT BOURBON WHISKEY SMALL BATCH BARREL #6196281 (MACADOODLES)
Bourbon — Kentucky , USA
Reviewed March 24, 2022Very smooth, up there with EH Taylor single barrel, just not quite as flavorful or as smooth but impressive for an inexpensive bourbon. -
Benchmark Single Barrel Bourbon (95 Proof)
Bourbon — Kentucky , USA
Reviewed March 24, 2022 (edited April 13, 2022)Light musky yet subtle sweetness of a 1920’s mens cologne with a late bitterness and finishes slightly harsh.
