NULU Toasted Single Barrel Rye
Rye — Indiana (bottled in Kentucky), USA
Reviewed January 29, 2023 (edited October 28, 2024)Vegetal, eucalyptus or mint with resounding a toasted butterscotch then subtle cacao nose. Strong chocolate mint throughout the taste with a very round vanilla note. There's a bit of roasted butternut squash and what I assume is toasted coconut. I compared this to a butternut soup with coconut milk and yes it parallels well. A very little bit of spice pokes through at the end but less than expected for a high proof rye. As for the finish, White pepper starts then toasted cereal, mint, and chocolate then long vanilla. The vanilla, and mint persist on the very long finish with an undertone of burnt orange zest. Of the 350+ bourbons that I have this is by far the most complex. I need to get more110.0 USD per BottleRonald Reagan Washington National Airport -

Bourbon — Ohio, USA
Reviewed December 31, 2021 (edited November 12, 2024)Tasting notes Nose: ethanol forward, mild oak that becomes more apparent as it opens, vanilla and little orange zest Palate: light caramel with sweetness, oak jumps out (reminds me of fresh cut white oak), white pepper sharpness and taste, and that fades into vanilla Finish: oakiness persist with slight bitterness, mild char, still peppery and longer vanilla There is a faint creaminess that shows up but can't tell if it's on the end of the taste or beginning of the finish -
Laphroaig 10 Year Cask Strength (Batch 7)
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed March 2, 2020 (edited January 13, 2022)Great Smokey vegetal sweetness with dried dark fruits on the nose. A very slight Sherry smell. Medicinal and peat notes aren't overpowering like an Ardbeg. Wonderful sweet vanilla, leather, and dried fruit (dried apples as well) come through on the pallette initially. Medicinal notes are there but not persistent. Smoke changes to more of a mix of toasty oak and mesquite. Smoke persist in a long oily finish but with a lemon or grapefruit zest and a little zing of spice. I'm a rye and bourbon drinker and this is amazing. Don't expect it to be a winner initially but grows on you after several tastings over weeks. Note: pair with milk chocolate and chopped bacon for a next level experience!70.0 USD per Bottle -

Breckenridge PX Sherry Cask Finish
Bourbon — Colorado, USA
Reviewed February 29, 2020 (edited June 27, 2021)Vanilla and orange with spice on the nose. Taste is orange zest, slight spice and pepper, oak (bark), very cherry on the finish with brown sugar sweetness. Finish is quick and sharp sweet cherry. Almost astringent bitterness that continues to build. This is similar to the bitter part of pecans. Overall, this is like drinking am old fashion with a bitter pecan finish.56.0 USD per Bottle
