Tastes

This is my current favorite Irish whiskey. Neat, it has a charming vanilla sweetness that doesn't break, and enchanting smoke note appears through the bloom, and this really caught me because it is smokey but not peaty, not ashy. Really enjoyed this neat and personally would not mix with it. If neat's not your thing, it can take 1/4-1/2 water without losing much of the smoke, but the vanilla and sweetness are slightly less forward in that stuation.

Possessed of pleasing citrus notes making for a nice dram. MacAllan has not tried to hide or even mellow the dominant wood note and some may feel they are "tasting the cask" too much; however, mellower and less woody single malts are plentiful, leaving Macallan Fine Oak 10 as a distinct taste and aroma experience worth trying.

A reliable standard with easily discernible fruit and vanilla notes. Calm and warming to the nose. This is a great selection for introducing people to the pleasures of single malt. It isn't called "THE Glenlivet" for nothing.
