Saw it in a bar. $13 for 2 ounces, had to try it. Tasting in a strange glass, kind of like a giant glencairn and I mean like 4x the size. The nose has strawberry laffy taffy, raspberries, baking spices, cotton candy, baking spices and maple syrup. The palate has a light oily texture with some nice spices, leather, oak and the strawberry laffy taffy still comes through. Finish has vanilla, baking spices, and some lingering strawberry taffy. This was very interesting. It basically tasted like a fruitier/berry version of Weller Antique. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I’ve never gotten strawberry laffy taffy in a bourbon before.

Chattanooga Whiskey Cask 111
Bourbon — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed March 3, 2020 (edited March 30, 2020)Nose has honey, malt, brown sugar and vanilla. The palate is oily and sweet with malt, fairly spicey in a good way, and some grassy-ness. Finish is medium length with vanilla and some residual spiciness on the tongue and cheeks. I enjoyed this one, but was somewhat surprised by this one. Very different from their sources 1816 line that is now discontinued. Given that this one has a high malt content, it has more of a Scotchyness to it. But still has some nice barrel spices that you might find from a higher proof bourbon. -
The Walking Dead Kentucky Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed February 26, 2020 (edited May 17, 2020)The palate has vanilla, honey, brown sugar, raisins and a light rye spice. Palate is slightly oily with sweet vanilla, rye. Finish is medium long with vanilla and a slight bitterness. Fairly easy to drink with a slight tingle on the edge of the tongue. I am pleasantly surprised by this one. I had very low expectations given the gimmicky-ness of the bottle. I found one for $9.99 so I opted in for it.9.99 USD per Bottle -
The nose has an even amount of soft vanilla, rye and an herbal note along with some sweet corn and hints of dark fruit. The palate has a nice thick and oily texture. It’s on the sweeter side with corn, vanilla, dusty rye, and an herbal note. The finish on the longer side and kind of sits at the top of your chest with lingering vanilla and a little rye left on the palate. Overall, this one hits some nice points. Nice mouthfeel, proof and it’s not overly rye’d, which I like.

Being a fan of EH Taylor Small Batch and Single Barrel, I’ve been on the lookout for this one. Excited to see how this different mashbill compares to the others in the lineup. The nose has rye spice, but not over dominating, pear, light baking spices and bread, little bit of oak, vanilla, and light dusted chocolates. The palate has an oily mouthfeel with rye spice, vanilla, oak, baking spices and some pears. The finish is long and has a nice lingering fo vanilla and rye. This is a very pleasant rye. It doesn’t kick you in the face with overbearing rye spice, but you know it’s there. Fairly easy to drink and somehow still manages to have similar characteristics of the standard EH Taylor offering, even though this is a different mashbill.80.0 USD per Bottle

Jack Daniel's Single Barrel Barrel Proof Tennessee Whiskey
Tennessee Whiskey — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed February 16, 2020 (edited November 11, 2020)I don’t like regular jack. But I’ve heard good things about this. So after a long time of putting it off, I’ve decided to go for it. The nose has vanilla, a little rye, caramel, dusty peanuts, cola, green banana, The palate is syrupy textured with oak, caramel, vanilla sweetness, slight peanut can, and green banana. At this high of proof it’s not surprising that it dries the mouth a little. The finish is long with lingering peanuts, caramel and sweet vanilla. I was surprised how I thoroughly enjoyed this one. Considering the proof, I don’t get a crazy amount of alcohol burn or ethanol fumes. It definitely has a burn, but a welcome one for the proof.60.0 USD per Bottle -
Heaven Hill Green Label 6 Year
Bourbon — Kentucky , USA
Reviewed February 15, 2020 (edited November 5, 2020)I’ve heard about this Kentucky only bottom shelf secret and found myself in KY and decided to try it. I’ve had the lower proof Heaven Hill white label ( non Bottled-In-Bond), this green label is noticeable darker in appearance and it’s age stated at 6yrs. The nose has vanilla, dusty rye, honey, a little corn, hints of baking spices baked bread and cooked pears. The palate is silky smooth with vanilla sweetness, rye, and subtle baking spices. The finish is medium with lingering vanilla and a tiny bit of rye. This is a great value. I’m more of a higher proof guy, but I had to try it. Decent amount of flavor for the price and very easy to drink.13.0 USD per Bottle -

Bruichladdich The Classic Laddie
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed February 8, 2020 (edited December 24, 2020)I’m a big Bourbon fan but decided to watch a Scotch documentary on a plane. This particular doc had a lot of background info on this distillery, so I caved into the power of suggestion and bought this bottle. The nose has vanilla, juicy pears, malt and a little peppery. You’d swear there was some peat in there. There’s a little bit of the classic scotch band-aids smell, I haven’t figured out what else to call it yet. The palate has an oily mouthfeel. It’s briney with some spicy peppery notes, light fruit and vanilla. The finish is long with an initial burn in the top of the throat and comes through the back of the nostrils. It has lingering vanilla, malt, band-aids. This is fantastic. I am a big Bourbon fan and don’t have nearly as much experience with Scotch, but this one is up there as one of my faves.60.0 USD per Bottle
