Nose: Very strong vanilla notes. Toasted oak To a lesser degree. Does not have alcohol smell even when first poured. Palate: to be considered a “budget” bourbon it is full of flavor. Caramel, oak, and cinnamon are the dominant flavors. The mouthfeel is damn near perfect. Coats the tongue nicely. Finish: medium finish of pepper and spice. Have read reviews that say alcohol tastes resonates. Not to me. I’ve probably rated this a little low at 3.25. Have tasted much higher rated (and pricier) bourbons that were not near as flavorful. This would make a great daily drinker.

Colonel E.H. Taylor, Jr. Small Batch Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 31, 2020 (edited February 19, 2020)Nose: first scent that hit me was warm baked bread. The only other hint or a scent that was noticeable was leather. Palate: warm - not spicy. Hints of vanilla and oak. Tastes like a bourbon should - nothing fancy. Mouthfeel was medium - possibly a little thin. As a fan of rye bourbons I was pleasantly surprised how much I liked this bourbon. Finish: very pleasant warm going down. Does not linger on tongue. The hints of tobacco that comes through at the end makes it pair well with a nice cigar. -
Elijah Craig Small Batch Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 24, 2020 (edited January 25, 2020)Appearance: light caramel in color Nose: Sweet Apple and Oak dominate Palate: very gentle at first. Heat begins to seep him slowly. Very simple flavor profile. Oak dominates, but I’m sure the more experienced enthusiast could pick out some of the more gentle flavors. Mouthfeel is a little on the thin side. Finish: finishes strong. Lingers long after the sip. Heat is just about right - would not have minded a little more kick in the end. Good bourbon for the price point. Due to mouthfeel being a little thin, I think It would be enjoyable in a chilled glass, but even a big cube may water it down a little much. -
Willett Pot Still Reserve Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 14, 2020 (edited February 21, 2020)Meh- due to the uniqueness of the bottle, I think I was expecting more. Appearance: beautiful copper/caramel appearance. Definitely passes the appearance test with flying colors. Nose: oak and fruit. I’m not sophisticated enough at this point to discern the difference in fruit smells, but it leans towards the citrus side. Palate: as this review began - Meh. Really nothing extraordinary. Slightly spicy at the start. Coats the tongue well. Just not a ton of flavor, but it is not overwhelmed by an “alcohol” taste. A little more leather taste than I like. Finish: very mild burn as it hits throat. Leaves mouth a bit dry. Overall - I gave it a three but that’s probably more due to the packaging. At $38 it’s much cheaper in my area than most so I figured it would be a neat piece to add to my collection. Definitely not my preferred daily drinker, but will probably pour a dram once or twice a month.38.0 USD per Bottle -
Larceny Barrel Proof Single Barrel
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 6, 2020 (edited March 26, 2021)Nose: Cinnamon and peaches Palate: Spicy. A bit “thin” for my tastes. Not a ton of flavor. A more experienced taster could probably pick up on flavor profile, but not this rookie. Finish: Burns (in a good way) to the end. Overall - not my choice for a daily sipper, but I’m not a huge fan of wheat whiskeys. I think this would make an excellent mixer - will try in a Manhattan soon.26.0 USD per Bottle
