St. Augustine Double Cask Bourbon
Bourbon — Florida, USA
Reviewed April 29, 2017 (edited May 29, 2018)This Florida bourbon has the appearance of amber honey, with a nose of oats, corn, and hay followed by peppery oak and vanilla nuttiness (walnuts, pecans), and plum at the very back. The taste is smooth, light, and silky; rich in vanilla sweetness early with oak, cinnamon, and nuttiness finishing out with subtle hints of grain. A smooth and sipable bourbon even without considering its youth - which makes this truly amazing. I can't wait to see what St. Augustine releases after 5, 10, or so years! -
St. Augustine Port Finished Bourbon
Bourbon — Florida, USA
Reviewed April 29, 2017 (edited December 31, 2017)This port-finished bourbon has an appearance of coppery amber honey, with a nose of corn and rye, with oak predominance, vanilla, chocolate, caramel, and walnut and a dark, dried fruit finish reminiscent of fig and raisin. The taste is early sweet corn and oak with vanilla-oak predominating the middle and a long nuttiness in the finish. It's young with a bit of a bite, but for something so young it's very smooth and drinkable neat. It's exciting to see something like this coming out of Florida!
