Elijah Craig Barrel Proof Bourbon Batch B524
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed June 3, 2024 (edited August 4, 2024)Rested ~15 minutes in Glencairn prior to tasting. Nose: Dark and sweet. Strong and bright cherry flavor punches through the ethanol burn. I'm starting to get a cherry cola flavor too. Heavy on the brown sugar and caramel too. Charred oak is prevalent too. Palate: Sweet and spicy. Fantastic chili pepper note on the front followed by more dark brown sugar and charred oak. It does make me miss the fruit from the nose, but it's very complex and unique. Mouthfeel: As I'd expect given the proof, this is a very thicc boy. It is hot but very oily and completely coats the palate. As I get further into this pour, I pick up more citrus / orange zest. Finish: Toasty and fairly intricate. Nicely warming with some lingering caramelized sugar and spice. Overall: This is really excellent. It's well rounded and fairly complex. I do tend to prefer a bit more cinnamon spice and vanilla, which I don't get a ton of on this.65.99 USD per Bottle -
Nose: Caramel forward with a touch of sweet grain and lightly floral. Palate: Very sweet. Grain forward but not green or overly young. Honey, vanilla, and a touch of caramel too. Finish: Here we find the oak. More light sugar and honey too. But, the finish is short. Frankly, it's heartbreaking. Overall, it's good. Does not deserve any hype, but for a cheap wheater, it's great.10.0 USD per PourStock And Barrel

Nose: Cinnamon, leather, light toasted caramel. Rich, complex, and sweet. Also fantastic baking spice / graham crackers. 2nd time around I pick up a sweet tobacco on the nose and finish. Palate: BRIGHT fruits. Cherry followed by citrus or apple and charred oak in the mid palate. Mouthful: Very oily and drying. The only tell of the barrel proof is this viscous, dry, and hot mouthfeel. Finish: long, complex. Dark chocolate , dry and almost herbal? Citrus sneaks in at the end of the palate and dances with the classic vanilla, oak, and caramel that made us fall in love with Kentucky Bourbon. Really really excellent. $18 for a 2oz pour is 100% worth it.18.0 USD per PourThe Public House
