A delicious dram of this great distillery; part of the legends expression from Glenmorangie. Matured part in Pedro Ximenez Casks and part in Virgin oak casks. Bottled at 43% abv, amber color. On the nose is fair. Liquorice, Blackberry, Ashes, Dr. Pepper cola, Slight vanilla, and a Herbal note like boiled asparagus. On the palate is very good, Orange syrup, Tobacco, Oranges, soft and Pleasant, some Smoke and Chocolate. Finish is long, sweet. Overall i give this dram a 93 over 100. For 80$ is a good deal.

Glenmorangie Nectar D'or 12 Year
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed April 5, 2020 (edited June 22, 2020)As soon as i got my nose on this baby i said to myself, "wow a baby signet". Actually the whole profile is a bit alike Glenmorangie's best expression (in my book that is), the Signet. 46%abv a little high for glenmorangie, actually delivers a lot of flavor, although the palate is were it dropped some points. On the nose: Vanilla, Clove, Wine Chocolate, Lemon, Citrus and Complex. Nice. On the palate: Honey, Oak, Chocolate and Oranges. Nice long finish, sweet with a little burn sensation and maybe smoke (i dont think smoke should be there but it kinda is). Overall i give this dram an 89 over 100, almost a 4.5. Go pick it up. -
Mi first Glenmorangie, a good everyday whisky, nicely flavoured, a little low on the nose. Bottled at 43%abv, it has a yellow gold color. On the nose i got vanilla cream, tobbacco, some citrus notes but not oranges, salt, peanut butter and a very impressive and never "seen" before note that resembles glazed ham. On the palate is easy to drink, with oranges, ashes, tobbacco, oak and a peppery medium finish. Medium bodied. This one i was looking forward to try, and yesterday i had a tasting in my house, we drank 4 whiskies, and this one was the runner up after the Glenfiddich cask collection Select Cask. 80/100

Glenmorangie 18 Year
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed April 5, 2020 (edited August 6, 2022)I believe this is a very enjoyable dram. I even think this is one of the best 18yo whiskies i have had, and i truly believe that it should deserve more than the 4.0 im giving it, but it really is a dram that will be forgotten over time. It is just as the glenfiddich 18yo, a kinda fancy, easy drinkable dram, not made for critics (or people like me who believe themselves as whisky critics) because it lacks emotion. But it is a very enjoyable dram. Bottled at 43%abv, amber color. On the nose, milk chocolate, Nutmeg, White wine, Vanilla plant, Cake crest, apricot and After a while it develops into creme brulee (burnt caramel). On the palate, it is very pleasant. Very easy. Spicy clove, Caramel, Apricot Some nuttiness. Oily and oaky but absolutely balanced. Dry vanilla cake. More Clove. Finish is short, winey and spicy. It is almost the twin brother of glenfiddich 18yo (and i truly believe they compete against each other). It is very enjoyable, but not a high scorer. 86 over 100, feels like it could get more, but giving it more would be unfair to more exciting whiskies. This one is to enjoy while sat on a relaxed afternoon. Cheers! -
Glenlivet 13 Year Sherry Cask Matured
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed April 5, 2020 (edited January 17, 2024)I FREAKING LOVE THIS WHISKY. As soon as i tasted it for the first time i knew i will have a long time relationship with this one. It is so gentle in the palate and so delicious that you can drink it like water. It has been matured for 13 years in european oloroso sherry seasoned butts. Bottled at 40%abv, Red color. As in any strawberry Jam. On the nose: Maraschino Cherries, full of it. Bacon, glazed pork and GRENADINE SYRUP. It is the sweetest most cloying thing in the world. Since i am a fat guy, this is great. Lol On the palate, AMAZINGLY SWEET. Red fruits, cherries, marmalade and smooth sweet sherry. Nothing complex but plainly delicious. Aftertaste is mostly sherried with hints of ginger spice. Easy drinkable. Overall i would buy a container of this and i could drink it till the end of times. The most sweet and easy going sherriness ever. It is a dessert made whisky. Many won't share my score, but i just loved it. 92 over 100. SLAINTE MHATH FRIENDS! -
Beautiful story, beautiful bottle, delicious Whisky. The Glenlivet code is a tribute to Alan Turing who cracked the Nazi code in world war ii, and there is this great movie about it. It is not only a whisky, it is a game. You are supposed to guess the tasting notes, and then you have to go online using the Shazaam App to put the aroma and tasting notes and they give you your score. Its actually super fun, specially with a group of friends and it is also very challenging, and that makes you drink a lot more than one dram. (And the bottle is heavy and black, so you actually dont know hoe much you have drank). Bottled at 48%abv, tawny color. Ok, lets do this. FOR ME this was all about, Cinnamon, Red Apples and Vanilla Cookies on the nose. Actually pretty powerful aroma for a glenlivet. On the palate it was very fruity, Oranges, plums, cherries, and super powerful spicyness, full of Ginger. When me and my friends put all this (it was more than less a consensus) we got the first time 17%, the second 30% and the third time 38%. ALL THE NOTES ARE POSIBILITIES IN THE APP, SO WE WERE RIGHT ABOUT THE AROMA AND TASTING NOTES BUT, there is a very difficult part of the game and that is the INTENSITY of the notes. You can pick over mild, medium or intense and that is where we have failed (at least we think so). The game is great, the experience is great, the whisky is great. I truly recommend it, for me it was a solid 87 over 100, but the whole experience deserved a 100. Slainte!

Glenlivet The Master Distiller's Reserve Solera Vatted
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed April 5, 2020One of the 3 retail market releases from Glenlivet, the "middle price one" this is a Solera Vatted expression, actually the best aroma in glenlivet. 40%abv Beautiful aroma, Honey, Vanilla cream, lots of Peanut butter, Fragant as flowers, Prunes, Wedding cake, So so sweet, Could stay hours just nosing this. On the palate it is a little simple, Bitter notes, cereal, Oak and Peanut butter. Finish short but surprisingly smoky, ashy. nice. Overall it is fair to give this dram an 86 over 100. I would buy another bottle because it is easy to pair with food. -
Glenlivet The Master Distiller's Reserve Small Batch
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed April 5, 2020The Glenlivet released some time ago the "Master Distiller's Reserve" expressions for duty free. The 3 expressions have different prices, the "Master Distiller's reserve", the Solera Vatted and this small batch release. After having the three of them i got to say the best one for me is the Solera Vatted. This review is for the Small Batch one, which is actually the most expensive of the range. It is numbered and its a fancy nice bottle that goes for around $125. Bottled at 40%abv. On the nose, it is very good. Prunes, Cereal, apple juice, Cola, blackberry jam, Pineapple, Orange jam, Hot honey, fresh warm Oranges. Great. On the palate it is very drinkable but maybe too watery and a little "normal". It is just pepper, apples and honey. Aftertaste gets a little better, with hay, honey and apple sider finish. Overall this could be a lot better. The palate was too watery and straightforward. Don't get me wrong, nothing off putting or bad, just not what i expected. 80 over 100. -
Glenlivet 21 Year Archive
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed April 5, 2020 (edited June 13, 2020)A beautiful expression of The Glenlivet that i was eager to taste. Finally i have had it and it was a fancy dram, easy drinkable and smooth, a little too straightforward maybe. Bottled at 43%abv. On the nose i really pick a lot of notes that i would normally get from the Glenlivet 15yo french oak. A very refined aroma. Vanilla cake, Raisins, Fruitcake. Amazing And Fancy aroma, sherriness is present. Custard cream and Pineapple. On the palate, this is a wonderfully light whisky. Very smooth, Vanilla, custard cream and cake. Just as the nose. Aftertaste is where something slightly is offered, a very bitter, truly bitter tobacco note (fantastic). Ginger. Super pleasant finish. Overall this is a fancy dram, made for people who can afford it and want a very smooth straightforward whisky. 89 over 100 is my score for it. Very pleasant experience. -
A really nice expression this one is (excuse my yoda english). The best part is the aftertaste but definitively is a well rounded dram. Bottled at 43%abv, golden color. On the nose, Apples, Wood smoke, Vanilla, Thick honey, wafer, Tobacco and Caramel after first sip. On the palate, Straight apple notes and Sider. Some nice spicyness, very pleasant. So fruity. Afteraste is delicious. Tobbacco and Wood smoke; Some Ginger. Lovely finish. Overall this dram is a solid 90 over 100. Truly recommended.
