Balvenie Doublewood 12 Year
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed January 26, 2019 (edited April 8, 2019)My goodness. Here we are again with another review on whisk(e)y, but unlike my previous brotheren, bourbon, I've ventured into the scotch side of things. Here we go. The Balvenie Doublewood 12 is simply full of good flavor. I would agree with the pro-reviewer as you can smell a whiff of grape along with vanilla. The taste is ridiculously smooth. I left my dram sitting for 30 minutes after my first sip and noticed a difference as it opened up more. A friend recommend this and although I wish it had a bit more bite (abv), i would buy this again. A great sipper and a staple to the collection.98.0 CAD per Bottle -
Lot No. 40 11 Year Cask Strength
Canadian — Ontario, Canada
Reviewed October 9, 2018 (edited March 17, 2019)This by far is the best Canadian Rye made. This dolly packs a punch with an incredibly high abv of 55%. Lot 40 Cask Strength manages to have a bold and flavorful taste which tends to be a challenge on such high abv's. It starts out sweet with maple, spice in the background and has a really mid-chest warmth to it. This is definitely a bottle to hold on to for quite some time.100.0 CAD per Bottle -
I purchased this after reading the judges score on distiller. What a big mistake. The only thing going for this juice is the abv 50%. Other than that it's not a really interesting product. Save the funds and get the single barrel that packs so much more flavor. Very disappointed in this whiskey and should have gone with the community review.33.5 CAD per Bottle

I rate this as a 2.5. Yes it's the #1 whiskey in America and amongst the world, but the low abv and sour mash that gives you gutt rot isn't the most pleasant. Upgrade to the JD Barrel Proof as this ups it grading and allows you to search for that sour mash bill along with the pleasantries of what a true whiskey entails.36.95 CAD per Bottle

Weller Special Reserve Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed August 13, 2018 (edited September 3, 2018)Blah! First time having Weller's Special Reserve and my impression wasn't all that great. I was expecting so much more to this and was quite let down. Nose - Leather, honey and caramel Taste - immediately sweet with minimum spice Finish - Butterscotch and a load of poppycock I've drank worse, but I wouldn't even bat an eye at this. Save your hard earned cash and buy something better.39.95 CAD per Bottle -
Wild Turkey Master's Keep Decades
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed July 23, 2018 (edited September 3, 2018)Although the abv is 52% / 104 proof the nose wouldn’t recognize such a high proof. The mellow smell on the nose is appealing which makes me curious as to what exactly is in this mixture from an aging standpoint since its a NAS. I believe anything from 10 to 17 years if memory serves me correct. On the nose I instantly smell raisins, brown sugar and a subtle hint of cinnamon. On the tongue is a smoothness unlike their other products. The abv is heightened with a pinch of heat on the front to mid tongue. Spice comes out more dominant until you drink. No burn at all. Then again i drink regularly and especially whiskeys. Only a slight / subtle floral taste as well. To pay $150 USD for this product is worth it as i did so with two other friends. It is one of the top shelf items from a taste standpoint. A sipper to enjoy on special occasions. I would rate this a 4.5 out of 5, however, if the price were lower and the age was confirmed being 12-17 years it could easily be a 5 star. Cheers,150.0 USD per Bottle -
Hints of vanilla, caramel and sweetness. This rye takes on bourbon notes that tickles the cockles. For a go to or entry level bottle, i would recommend this. Although a staple Crown product i will say this one consistently outperforms their senior product lines in certain fashions. An example of a bottle that always has a good taste with a low price tag. Crown Royal Vanilla
Flavored Whiskey — Manitoba, Canada
Reviewed July 22, 2018 (edited July 23, 2018)A drink for the kidlets when they're just starting out. Nothing fancy, complex or interesting about this whisky. It's pure sugar and not good on the palate, especially at 35% ABV. If the sugar was dialed back and the ABV ramped up, then you might ...keyword, "might" consider this one. Finger in mouth.29.95 CAD per Bottle
