Tastes

Wow, that’s pear up front! Peat and aldehydes up front, but real fast fade to… maybe pear? Winey tastes as well, but not like an “aged in sherry casks” winey. Some salt too; rather sweet!

Nose almost grassy, grapey… plenty of ammonia too! The peat is definitely forward, but not overwhelming. Green and yellow flavors in the front of the mouth as the peat fades to caramel and then leaves a chemical flavor with vanilla undertones. And boy does that flavor stay! Was part of the Spirits Co Peated Whiskys Advent Calendar.

Definitely vanilla and sherry nose. Peat is fairly mild; nectarines and maybe even cherries on the palate? Or is it the chocolate? Not too saline. Sweeter than I might have imagined.

Vanilla and fruit on the nose - orange, maybe? - and vanilla and stone fruits on the palate. Saltiness lingers.

Very honeyed nose, with floral notes. Amazingly mild, turning to a moderate, apple-fruited burn, and finishing with hints of wood and grass.

Sweet and aldehydic, with a light mouthfeel despite the rich flavor.

You can smell the sherry on the nose, and fresh sea air, as well. The mouth is sweet and salty, with subtle sherry and vanilla. Aldehydic on the back of the mouth, but balanced. Amazing.

I usually find a Speyside too sweet for my taste, but this is balanced and rich. It's smooth, but with the salty and medicinal and aldehydic undertones of a real, strong scotch. Opens on the mouth with surprises and luxury
