Float Like A Butterfly, Sting Like A Bee 80.13 (SMWS)
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed October 7, 2020 (edited April 13, 2024)Really beautiful nose of burnt sugar, vanilla/buttercream frosting, honey comb, birthday cake , fresh sliced wheat bread and fresh fried crisps. Be aware - without adding any water it has a great palate, but a finish made of pure fire at 60.8% ABV. Before adding water there are hints of crème brûlé and pie crust and a small bite of salinity. The finish is long, hot and full of baking spices and cinnamon sugar. After adding water there is a lot more potato crisp and some malt coming through in the nose, as the vanilla is there but seems to have taken a backseat to the honey comb and fresh cut malt and gooey butter cake. Peaches and creme are very prevalent as well. The taste then opens up to fresh baked cinnamon apples and banana nut bread. The finish is still warm, but very inviting with tastes of marshmallow and asian pear. This was a really fun dram!
