I made last minute detour on my way home to Ohio to check out this craft distillery. The main draw to me was of course the chance to try a peated bourbon. First off off the aesthetics of this place are great and I loved learning about the story behind the branding. The distiller and family were all there that day for bottling and they where the greatest hosts. Walking me through the tasting and even sipping with me so we could exchange tasting notes. The distiller is truly passionate and knowledgeable about his craft, experimenting with not only peat but also a unique bloody butcher corn. This red corn gave all thier whiskey a pleasently creamy feel with a leather earthy note that sets it apart from the standard off-the-shelf brands. I want to personaly thank the distillery for sharing thier passion and for a taste of a cast strength honey barrel (amazing!). They made a fan, and I will be watching to see what they do as thier whiskey continues to age. Oh and the peated bourbon didn't disappoint.

Coopers' Craft Barrel Reserve 100 Proof Kentucky Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA

Missing some complexity up front, young tasting. Distillery sales person assured me it was a mix if 2 to 10 year old juice. Second tast resulted in traditional bourbon wood flavors. Sweeter rather than spicey. Easy to drink but would not buy again at this price. It has a preety bottle and was a good souvenir.
