Michter's US*1 Kentucky Straight Rye
Rye — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed October 11, 2022 (edited November 14, 2022)Nose- Grassy and fresh, baking spices, mint Palate- Subtle black pepper, sweet caramel, mild herbal note maybe sage, mint, nice rye spice not overly aggressive Finish- Soft but it does hang around for a little while, the rye spice is predominant on the finish but it is balanced with just enough sweetness Overall a great easy sipping rye. There are definitely more complex ryes but this gets the job done45.99 USD per Bottle -
The nose opens with notes of caramel and toffee that give way to rich vanilla and baking spice notes. The palate opens with a sweetness similar to brown sugar that evolves into a mild red fruity sweetness. On the back of the palate the wood is more assertive. The finish is medium in length and quite smooth. My main criticism is that it is a little thin thanks to being proofed down. Overall a very solid bourbon!

Nose- Baking spice, barrel char, cinnamon, and an herbal note (maybe cardamom or dill). Palate- It leads with oak and a whisper of smoke that fades into a sweetness that is reminiscent of a cinnamon strudel. This fades into a dry rye spice. Finish- Warm and lingering. It just doesn’t want to let go. The finish is peppery similar to lightly cracked black and white peppercorn. Overall, this is an excellent and complex rye. It punches well above its price point. This is an excellent example of how complex rye can be. Every whiskey drinker should try this.54.99 USD per Bottle
