Highland Park 12 Year Viking Honour
Single Malt — Islands, Scotland
Reviewed February 15, 2022 (edited October 6, 2022)Light floral notes and citrus on the nose. On the palate: Slight honeyed sweetness quickly gives way to orange zest and orange bitters followed by damp ash and peat. Finish is oily and slightly salty, but overall not overly enthusiastic about this dram. -
Glenmorangie Nectar d'Or Sauternes Cask Finish
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed December 26, 2021Sweet, light, and smooth. Maybe too light for some, but overall not a bad dram at all. -
I like to call this heavily peated dram liquid campfire. The light, straw color of this scotch hides the smoky, straightforward palate that gives way to subtle hints of pencil lead and buttered toast. This one is so smoky and peaty that it can be overwhelming for some. Excellent dram for cool nights outside sitting around the fire pit.

GlenDronach Allardice 18 Year
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed December 25, 2019 (edited April 26, 2020)Strong nose of maple and spice cake gives way to maple notes and dried fruit on the palate. Subtle hints of vanilla also. The finish is a bit jammy in texture which I thought takes away from this dram a bit. -
Balvenie The Sweet Toast of American Oak 12 Year
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed December 25, 2019 (edited January 2, 2020)Very oak forward that includes layers of honeyed lemon, dried fruits, and freshly baked bread. A slight, spicy burn on the palate is enhanced with a few drops of water so I much prefer this dram neat. Not as good as the 12 year Doublewood, but an interesting dram nonetheless.
