really enjoyed drinking this one. need to drink it again, but i remember downing 5 or 6 glasses in a few hours. great taste, not too strong, feels creamy and has got that good vanilla taste. but it's not an entry-level whisky, the taste is somewhat complex and round, very balanced. great option if you're going for a blend but don't want to go for the budget blended scotch ones. also, beautiful bottle, makes it look fancier than it is. V2: smell: vanilla, starbucks whipped cream, very alcoholic though, latte coffee taste: herbal, floral, a bitterness that is almost dark chocolate (maybe cause i tried harmonizing with it). mouthfeel is very round and soft.

Ballantine's 7 Year Bourbon Finish
Blended — Scotland
Reviewed August 11, 2023 (edited January 27, 2024)i actually like this one better than the finest, i think. the bourbon cask finish gives it such a creamy mouth feel that it is very easy to drink. that's why i think it's a great entry-level whisky: not expensive, not hard to drink, and it doesn't taste like what inexperienced people think whisky will taste like. once you get more into whisky, i can understand why people think this one is bland or disappointing, but i think it does somewhat of a good job. great as well to introduce people to drinking neat. nose: vanilla, cotton candy, floral mouth: dark herbal, dark chocolate, spicy, creamy -
very standard budget whisky, but not as entry-level as ballantines finest. on the rocks is good and drinkable, sipping neat can be a bit disappointing. wouldn't say it's bad, but considering with just a bit more you can buy better stuff, i'd say go for better stuff. need to review again, haven't drank it in a while and don't know how soon i'm gonna get a bottle of it.

good entry-level budget scotch. available everywhere, so i end up drinking it quite frequently. on the rocks makes it more drinkable. not bad, but it's limited, not too complex. party whisky vibes. need to drink it again to review it properly, don't know if i'll buy a bottle of it anytime soon. got the new and the old bottle which shows a very nice design change. v2: after drinking a lot more whisky, i can confidently say this became quite underwhelming. very basic. drinkable, but not exciting enough for a tasting. nose: sweet, kind of like if you left a lollipop out in the sun and smelt the melted and toasted sugar, a bit flowery like orange flowers, vanilla too ofc mouth: very bland and short finish, a bit smoky but not peaty, australian bread bitter, melted chocolate (but not in a good way), a bit oily too
