Elijah Craig 18 Year Single Barrel Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed March 1, 2019 (edited May 12, 2019)N: very inviting on the nose. Loaded with sweet charred oak, toasted brown sugar, vanilla, slight leather. P: Quite soft on the palate but then again it’s only 90 Proof. Very sippable, all the scents on the palate come through on the nose which is interesting since nothing is hidden, what you smell is what you get. F: nice medium finish, really sits well on the back of the tongue the more you sip. -
Jack Daniel's Single Barrel Barrel Strength Tennessee Whiskey
Tennessee Whiskey — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed February 20, 2019Rural Inn Select #1 N: Similar to Elijah Craig Barrel Proof. Loads of sweet Barrel notes, leather, vanilla, chocolate, baking spices, very enjoyable but has some heat as well. P: very oily on the palate, really runs nicely over your mouth. I get a lot of oak and dark chocolate on the palate. I tend to find these same notes in most Barrel Proof bourbons. It does have a nice punch to it and long finish. The more you sip the more enjoyable it becomes. Takeaways: this could be disguised as GT Stagg or EC Barrel Proof and I think it would sneak past most without even knowing. It isn’t quite as refined as the higher end bourbons but for $65 sign me up all day. -
N:Quite sweet and fruity. Slight oak barrel and leathery on the finish. Much like regular Blantons but highly elevated. P: very similar to the nose. Tons of berry and stone fruit shine through initially. A little bit of vanilla sneaks in before the heat really ramps up. This really lets you know it’s a barrel proof bourbon and tingles your tongue. This is quite enjoyable but for those who don’t like high proofers I would suggest holding off until you come to enjoy these types of bourbon. Its quite good but would turn off most initially in my opinion.

Old Ezra 7 Year Barrel Strength Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 19, 2019 (edited March 17, 2019)N: Quite sweet. Orange, vanilla, butterscotch, oak, leather, little bit of pepper. P: Tons of Barrel on the palate which is surprising for only 7 yrs. Nice amounts of sweet oak and leather. The proof really starts to ramp up mid palate and lingers with a nice finish isn’t too long and really invites you in for another taste. Can’t complain with this at its retail price. Well done. -
(Rural Inn Pick) N: very strong nose. Heavy on the baking spices. All spice, creme brûlée, sugar, almond, butterscotch, oak, leather. P: nothin but spice rolls right over the tongue on the first sip. Second sip brings on a much sweeter palate. Nice Carmel, butterscotch sweetness then the spice and pepper kicks in at the end. Nice long finish. Nice sipper and can’t complain with the low price point.

N: A little youthful with sweet corn, Carmel, butterscotch, slight leather, fresh dough, maybe a hint of cinnamon. P: sweet initially with tons of cinnamon little bit of butterscotch then the peppery spice really comes on near the end. The finish is a little tanic, short, and kind of overpowers the nose and palate.

Four Roses 130th Anniversary Limited Edition Small Batch Bourbon (2018)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 22, 2018 (edited March 21, 2019)One of the best bourbons of 2018 in my opinion. Has your spicer four roses profile but more smooth and very enjoyable to drink. Could easily drink this whole bottle with friends and family in one night.
