Tastes

Just opened my first bottle. Caramel, toffee, oak and char, vanilla, fruit and spicy hot finish 2nd tasting stands by the 3.75-4 rating. Bear bakers 7 year single barrel head to head for me.

Mine was barrel 045 and A32C 35% 5yr, 30% 9yr, 25% 13yr, 10% 15yr. 114.3 proof. Solid bourbon. Salty caramel, vanilla, baking spices. Moderately full mouth feel with a very long spicy hot finish but it isn’t hot up front considering the proof. I would guess higher rye mash as well.

Maple, fruit, strong oak and vanilla. Nice spice and some burn on the end. Good bourbon for about $50. Really a nice complex bourbon for 93 proof

Solid bourbon. Heavy oak, vanilla, caramel.

A little high alcohol for my tastes but not bad. Sweet caramel, honey, oak, rich and sweet with spicy finish.

For $30 it is hard to beat but so hard to find any more. Would pay $60 max. Great overall bourbon with some complexity. Vanilla with oak and faint citrus on nose. Full feel, malty, oak, caramel and spice. I taste more rye but mash bill is supposed to be 10% rye.

Light, drinkable near or with one ice cube. Cinnamon, oak, caramel.

Licorice? Fruit and heavy oak. Second tasting was better but still not sure worth the premium. Each taste has been better than the last. Full mouth feel almost oily, licorice, oak, fruit with a little spice on the end.

Full smooth feel in the mouth. Pretty unique. Char/toast, popcorn, Fruit and some caramel, lots of rye spice on the finish.

Good value bourbon. Maple, brown sugar, oak char, spicy finish.
