Traverse City Whiskey Co. XXX Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Michigan, USA
Reviewed January 1, 2020 (edited August 18, 2020)Nothing complex. Very straight forward heat with a sweetness. Vanilla, no distinguishable other tones. Not much spice or finish. Not the smoothest, but okay, nothing complicated. Ok sipper, on the mellow side. Eh. -
Craigellachie Exceptional Cask Series 19 Year Single Cask
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed January 1, 2020Strong sweet nose of maple. Starts sweet but not overly. Chocolate and vanilla taste followed by a good oak and nutty taste. Finish is a little strong due to the higher proof but balanced well with just enough of a sweet finish. Overall, a nice complex variety of flavors. Well worth the taste. -
Macallan Edition No. 3
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed December 28, 2019 (edited December 31, 2019)Starts sweet with a mix of fruits. A bit of honey, vanilla, maybe orange and subtle dark chocolate. Then oak which I enjoyed. Finish was a bit more bitter then expected after the initial fruits. A bit of spice and just a hint of smoke. All in all, solid, sweet, smooth with a bit of a smokey oak and spice finish.
