Weller Antique 107 Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed October 23, 2021 (edited November 23, 2021)Cola immediately followed by some caramel and wheat sweetness. A slight cinnamon note is also present and green apples. Smooth as butter, long finish. A world class dram. $16 dollar shot16.0 USD per Bottle -
I’m not sure which year this was since I had a dram at a local bar I’ve been going to for years but it was unbelievable. The ABV doesn’t even hit you hard. It’s so refined. Chocolate cola is immediate followed by some sweet caramel and muddled grains. The rye notes you expect only hit you in the initial way down from the palate. The finish was tremendously long. Unbelievable. A top 5 whisky for me so far. 100/100. It’s hard to knock it. I even kept the glass by my side for a half hour and the notes changed across that course of time in so many ways. I was lucky enough to grab a shot for $36. What a bargain but I’d willingly pay a LOT more a shot for this. And the price of the bottle is easily worth it. 100/10036.0 USD per Bottle

Nikka Taketsuru Pure Malt (New Formula)
Blended Malt — Japan
Reviewed October 15, 2021 (edited August 29, 2022)Excellent! I compared this to the old one. It’s similar but differs on the finish. The nose is pretty. Bubble gum accompanied by green apples, a hint of anise somewhere in the distance and even mist follows. I also got a spray of orange juice (citrus) as if someone was freshly squeezing a few nearby. The smoke is barely there on the nose but it follows on the finish. The finish is medium short but more of the same from nose. The only difference is you notice a bit of that smoke from Yoichi on the way down. Overall very good. Similar to the original bottle, mostly Miyagikyo for sure just not as much of a Sherry influence in this release but excellent. 91/10065.0 USD per Bottle -
Yeah I’m definitely taking this over everything in the standard range. Was also lucky enough to try the Brora Blue which was excellent. Anyways, Candied apples on the nose, very floral like Glenmo 18 actually. A hint of smoke and clove in the distance with some Sherry and oak (mostly Sherry). The palate is a surprisingly hefty swish without much oiliness from the grain. The finish is spectacular: cooked chocolate caramel biscuits. What a dram.67.0 USD per Bottle

Kilchoman Sanaig (2016 Edition)
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed April 14, 2021 (edited November 5, 2021)Super dram. Originally wasn’t that impressed upon opening it. After I got about halfway down the bottle over the course of a few weeks, I looked around and thought, “this is literally one of the best Sherry influenced drams I’ve ever had.” Don’t always judge a dram right away. Some get better over time like this one.75.0 USD per Bottle -
George Dickel Barrel Select
Tennessee Whiskey — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed March 18, 2021 (edited May 15, 2021)So on the nose you’re literally thinking “Dickel 12.” And you aren’t wrong. This isn’t much different than the dickel 12 and that’s not a knock at all! The dickel 12 is amazing but you’re left kinda hoping the nose would be wildly different being barrel select etc.... But this differs on the palate and finish by A LOT. The finish is medium but the taste is all cacao and dark chocolate with loads of sweet corn in there. Dickel 12 doesn’t have this level of chocolate on the finish. This is excellent is easily worth the money and tracking it down online.38.0 USD per Bottle -
Macallan Edition No. 6
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed December 25, 2020 (edited December 12, 2023)Exquisite. Better for the money than the 18, Rare Cask and 25. Those are all great but this is spectacular for the price. All Sherry up front with maple syrup and dark chocolate almonds topped with warmed caramel sauce on top. The palate is a hefty swish and the finish is beyond long. Amazing stuff. 100/100 -
Edradour Caledonia 12 Year
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed October 17, 2020 (edited April 18, 2021)Probably my favorite whisky to date. And that’s saying a lot considering I’ve had many well over $1000. This is like the 10 year but a GIANT step up. It’s finish is all sherry without any distant bitterness from the oak like the 10. The nose is literally a chocolate brownie with fudge and sherry poured on top. Im not kidding. A legit masterpiece. Quite hefty on the palate as well. The best distillery in my opinion. They operate so small which is why they care so much 100/10090.0 USD per Bottle -
Jack Daniel's Gentleman Jack
Tennessee Whiskey — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed October 8, 2020 (edited October 29, 2020)I actually think this is excellent. It’s a much better No 7. Just exceptionally smooth. Sure it’s a bit watery but everything is there. The usual jack honey vanilla notes but very perfume oriented and brightly in your face. Really good stuff. Shockingly good like a Dickel 12
