Reviewed April 1, 2024This is Islay single malt Scotch whisky from Caol Ila. It was distilled on 8 December 2009 and matured for 14 years in a single bourbon hogshead (cask 322862) until it was bottled on 11 December 2023 for the Cask Strength Collection by Signatory. Naturally, this is presented at cask strength, a hefty 57.1% ABV, and just 295 bottles were filled. Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt Nose Warming bonfire smoke, milk chocolate, grilled peaches, vanilla, oak spice, and lemon peel. Palate Dried apricot, roasted nuts, sweet herbs, caramelised apples, and smoked barley. Finish Fruity and smoky. Rating is provisional as I haven't yet received it yet.70.3 GBP per Bottle -

Reviewed September 29, 2022 (edited May 23, 2024)Only had a neck pour so far, but it's a huge upgrade on the base 43% expression. Beautifully balanced and full of flavour with sweet and some savoury notes. -

Reviewed May 27, 2022 (edited May 18, 2023)This is for the 46% abv expression, natural colour, non chill filtered. Sweet, rich and creamy, this is probably the best whisky I have ever tasted. Hopefully I may be able to source a replacement very soon.
