Craigellachie 13 Year Armagnac Cask Finish
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed October 25, 2022 (edited November 24, 2022)Nose: Ripe orchard fruits, almost fermenting in the field, apple, anise Palate: Tart and fairly mild. Not much mouthfeel and not much flavor. Finish: Finishes stronger with barrel spice, astringency, and high pitched sweetness (poor description). Overall wanted more of a slam with the Armagnac and the nose is the most exciting piece of the experience. -
Bardstown Bourbon Co. Château de Laubade Armagnac Finish
Bourbon — Indiana (bottled in Kentucky), USA
Reviewed October 18, 2022 (edited November 18, 2022)Nose: musty, dusty, grapes. Generally subdued nose. Palate: wonderful. Roller coaster of flavors, each second that passes has a new wave. It’s sweet, but not overly bourbon, it’s oaky, but not overly tannin, and it’s complex but in waves, not all at once. Tobacco and leather mixed with the Armagnac casks. Finish is enticing and lingers.
