Ummm, this is fantastic, especially for the price... Decided to take a chance on this, and man am I happy I did. I might go buy another bottle just to make sure I have one. NOSE: sweet, pleasant, flavorful & complex PALATE: Early hit of spice and sweetness. Nice arrangement of flavors. Moderate oily mouth feel, I wish it had a bit more, but that's me. It's still quite nice. It is very drinkable and enjoyable at this proof. FINISH: Really Really nice. The spice lingers on the palate asking with some of the complex flavor, but not overbearing.

Tobacco Barn Distillery Single Batch Straight Bourbon Whiskey

Knob Creek 9 Year Single Barrel Reserve
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed December 27, 2020 (edited January 8, 2021)CONCLUSION: It's a win, and a very decent value! Unless I've got goals for the evening, I prefer this with a rock or splash of water. I feel it really let's the flavor of the bourbon (which is awesome) shine through. PALATE: Hot, I mean it is 120, but it's still enjoyable neat if you're in the mood. Great robust, sweet flavor. Definitely a fruitiness to it. Rich/full mouth feel. Really opens up and calms down with a little water. Heat dissipates, and because the rye content is relatively low, it becomes very enjoyable and buttery. NOSE: So good. For 120 proof, it's a pleasant surprise that it isn't strong ethanol that his you first. Sweet. Leather shop. -
Yellowstone Kentucky Straight Bourbon 7 Year (2020 Limited Edition)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed December 12, 2020 (edited February 12, 2021)CONCLUSION: Awesome. Very unique, doesn't disappoint. Yes, I recommend, but it's price justification is questionable. Tastes almost like a $60 - $80 bottle, I think. NOSE: first noticable attribute is the whole product is it's robust, inviting nose - very low ethanol presence. Sweet forward, fruit, little leather, very light florals, just perfect. Absolutely love the nose on this. PALATE: the mash bill is undisclosed, but it's the rye component that slaps you in the face first - rides the edge of introducing bitterness. Some would attribute this to a higher 'burn' than should expected from a quality 101 proof, but the spice is well done if you're in the mood. Nice oily consistency enables this whiskey to spread it's gloriousness throughout the mouth and let it linger and finish. Vanilla all day, char, caramel candies, sweetness isn't as high as it's nose, but it's still balanced alongside an overall great flavor. The finish is comprised of its unique flavor profile, sweet and pleasant.199.0 USD per Bottle -
Belle Meade Cask Strength Reserve Bourbon
Bourbon — Indiana (bottled in Tennessee), USA
Reviewed December 10, 2020 (edited May 10, 2021)CONCLUSION: Really good! Will definitely buy again - great quality and value. This one could definitely use about a 15 min rest in the glass... NOSE: Delicious nose, light, almost a little chocolate, with a slight medicinal note accompanied by ethanol. PALATE: Definitely some heat here at it's 108 proof and also a high rye, but the sweetness and overall well balanced flavor profile combine to make it fantastic. I get vanilla, light wood tones. The body is full, rich, oily, and lingers on the palate for a good amount of time. -
Woodford Reserve Double Oaked
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed December 8, 2020 (edited December 24, 2020)CONCLUSION: Just ok. Not bad, but not worth the hype or cost in my opinion. Will likely not buy again as long as the price is north of $40. NOSE: Nose is very pleasant and complex. Presence of ethanol, but also a sweet, leatherish deep oak. I feel the nose beats out the palate on this one. PALATE: You are immediately hit with a nice, full bodied bourbon and a very rich flavor of brulee and caramel. I feel that the mid palate through the finish is where this bourbon falls short. Just when you think it's going to follow through, it seems to fall flat and fails to reach it's optimal flavor balance before vanishing off the palate (which happens relatively quickly). I can't quite put my finger on it: I want to say it's lacking some sweetness in the follow through. That said, it's very easy drinking with virtually no burn, and the flavor throughout is still unique and enjoyable. -
Jim Beam Single Barrel Bourbon (95 Proof)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed December 7, 2020 (edited January 16, 2022)CONCLUSION: Solid bourbon to have on hand, might buy again, but it probably isn't the best value around. That said, I'm not disappointed. NOSE: Ethanol, sweetness, light oak PALATE: Underwhelming, but very smooth. Well balanced classic flavor profile and spice. Pleasant sweetness. Watery mouth feel is pleasant if it fits the mood, which also gives way to the flavor dissipating quickly. Although the ethanol aroma is evident in the nose, it's quite subtle on the palate. -
CONCLUSION: Fantastic, truly one of my favorites, and I'll be keeping this stocked in my home bar. NOSE: Light, inviting, pleasant, surprisingly low ethanol presence, caramel candies, very light florals. PALATE: The high rye content makes it's presence known right out of the gate in a non-overbearing way. The spice quickly dissipates and is followed by a sweet oak and brown sugar concoction, which lingers on the palate thanks to it's oily mouth feel. It simply has a wonderful, well balanced flavor punch that is characteristic of a high end bourbon, and it's very low alcohol burn lends to it being one of the smoothest 100 proof experiences you'll have.42.0 USD per Bottle

NOSE: Very pleasant. Very low ethanol burn. Standard sweetness, caramel and oak char notes. Maybe a fruit hint? I dunno... PALATE: Complex and a complete delight, but leaves you with a feeling that it had the potential to provide a little more. Heat is about right for its proof, if not more smooth than expected. Like the nose, standard vanilla and sweet caramel dominate. CONCLUSION: Damn good. Absolutely one of my favorites to sit back and relax with - easy drinking. 100% I'll be in the lookout for this again
