Tastes

So complex and interesting. Nose has a traditional caramel bourbon note with some dark fruit. Palate is smooth and syrupy with dark fruit and chocolate. Almost tastes finished. Thoroughly impressed.

Nose is sweet, rich and refined. Ethanol is gentle for the proof. I described it as “thick sweetness” because that’s the best descriptor I could come up with, and it’s fun to say. Vanilla, fruit, spice. Palette of honey, cherry, a tad bit of pepper and spices. The barrel is there but is not overwhelming considering the age. Everything I like about Jr. in a more refined package. Finish goes forever. A little hit of citrus makes it feel surprisingly refreshing.

Less interesting than I hoped. Rum showed up for me mainly as sweetness. Well done but not overly exciting.

Smooth, soft, sweet and floral nose. Not distinct but pleasant. Floral notes, honey and sherry dark fruit barrel flavors. Pretty and delicate, says the guy who doesn’t know much about scotch.

Alcohol burn on the nose. A little thin, but the finish improves after a couple sips. Some wood, vanilla, slight smoke or char, raisin.

Super bourbony bourbon. Vanilla, wood, touch of spice and heat, maybe a slight orange flavor. Somewhat oily and hangs around for a while. Haven’t found much better at this price. Big fan.

Caramel, pretzels and tropical fruit flavor that I can’t put my finger on. Something I’ve never smelled or tasted in a bourbon. A little bit of a briny flavor. Smooth and light. Really cool, unique and well-executed bourbon.

Sweet, light, honey, a little smoke.

Honey and spice on the nose. Much of the same with some fruit on the palate. Nice and bold. I don’t know much about single malts, but I know I like putting this in my mouth.

I never want it not on my shelf. Lots of traditional and bold bourbon flavors with oak, vanilla, almond and some other sweet goodness that I can’t put my finger on but enjoy nonetheless. The proof is there, but in an enjoyable and not abrasive way.
