Nose of campfire smoke, soot, and mineral sea air. Thin start followed by an immediate and intense wave of savory and astringent peat smoke mixed with wood fire smoke. Ending with a persistent lingering mellow smokey finish, You’ll be tasting for hours after you finish even a small dram. A fantastic and accessible blast of peat and smoke. A great introduction to the world Islay malts.

Basil Hayden Dark Rye
Other Whiskey — Multiple Countries
Reviewed February 17, 2018 (edited April 24, 2018)Completely dominated by the port. Very smooth and gentle but the port taste on the finish completely overwhelms and ruins the experience to the point it barely tastes like whiskey anymore. I tried to use it in a cocktail just to get through the bottle and the port still cut through it all. -
Balblair 2003 1st Release
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed February 4, 2018 (edited September 12, 2019)Fantastic presentation, I appreciate the vintage statement, natural color and non-filtration. Sweet dried fruits, honey and slightly sour melon on the nose. The taste has a gentle start, into notes of honey malt and fruit. Followed by a long sustaining slight spicy and sour finish. A rewarding and interesting dram specially when you spend enough time to get to know it.
