Balblair 2003 1st Release
Balblair // Highlands, Scotland
Balblair is one of the precious few Scotch distillers to release their whiskies as vintages. This whisky was distilled in 2003 and bottled in 2013, after aging in ex-bourbon barrels. It is non-chill filtered with no color added.
Single MaltDistilled in pot stills from 100% malted barley, produced at one distillery, aged in barrels; if Scotch or Irish, must be aged for at least three years.
"This relatively young Scotch is a pale straw color, and immediately gives off a whiff of the char effect from the bourbon barrel it came from. There's some classic toffee and vanilla in there too, mixed in with sharp citrus and clove. It's quite light for a Scotch, and might make a good hot weather dram."
