Macallan The Harmony Collection Rich Cacao
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed March 12, 2022 (edited August 6, 2022)One of the best Macallan to be released in quite some time. Addictive and delicious. Strong notes of very dark chocolate, dates, roasted nuts, caramel and light vanilla. To be enjoyed neat with dark chocolate. Nevertheless a little chilled water will open up honey notes and bring a lighter profile. An absolute recommendation for whisky connoisseurs or early discoverers -
A superb expression of the Bowmore Vaults. Less rich or fruity than the 15yo but far more rounded and polished flavours. Unexpensive for a 18yo single malt. Wonderful dram to pair with chocolates. Not as oaky as expected but with a surprising long long and complex finish , with hints of delicious smoke and spices.

Nose is typically Jack Daniel's, with vanilla notes, hints of apples, some char/oak. Taste is very close do Jack Daniel's but much smoother, a bit more tame, lighter, more caramel notes with water and a lot more charcoal notes. Almost no finish, ends up being a easy sipper and non intrusive in cocktails. Although price wise is not cheaper than JD is a lot better for first time drinkers

Nose if fresh, full of vanilla, soft bread and oak, hints of toasted caramel. Palate shows no peppery notes, round, very sweet, with vanilla, caramel, maple syrup, mouth feel is good and involving, oak intensifies with the swallow. Finish is quite short, fresh, lots of charred oak, caramel and a pleasant milk chocolate hint right in the end
