Macallan Rare Cask
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed January 10, 2021 (edited January 15, 2021)A magnificently complex bomb on the nose, even with the modest ABV. Definitely not a first act scotch. Oily-smooth on the tongue, with a great peppery finish. Lingering finish I live to follow with an espresso. -
Maker's Mark Wood Finishing Series 2020 SE4 x PR5
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 7, 2021 (edited January 15, 2021)Noses heavy vanilla and candy banana (like runts candy for real). Great proof burn up front. Sweet, slightly dusty back of tongue feel, with a syrup finish. Very long finish. -
Kaiyō The Sheri Second Edition
Blended Malt — Osaka, Japan
Reviewed January 7, 2021 (edited March 30, 2022)A bit of peat opens up to butterscotch on the nose. Very interesting. Creamy mouthfeel, some smoke on back of the tongue, with slight maple syrup on the finish. Overall a very weird and wonderful dram to change things up.
