Had this at a bar and I'm assuming it's not the 2015 batch (which is listed separate here on Distiller). The nose is a massive explosion of vanilla, oak, and caramel. It smells like your favorite dessert. On the first sip it's immediately apparent this is a very high ABV whiskey, but after the second or third sip, it goes down as smooth as any regular strength bourbon. It's bursting with flavor. I like my bourbons big and sweet and this fits like a glove. It boggles my mind that this is so easy to find, and at around only $50 a bottle.

I'm new to whiskey, and this is my first bourbon. My vocabulary is still limited. Vanilla on the nose is first and most powerful. Sweet banana or pear notes dominate the background. Occasional hint of some berry sweetness. Almost a hint of chocolate blend with the vanilla. On the palate: spicy and peppery with strong oak tones. The vanilla is still there but very subdued. Finish lingers with pepper and leather. Tasted with a bit of water.
