Rowan's Creek Kentucky Bourbon (50.05% alc) Appearance: Caramel, viscous tears roll slowly down the sides Nose: A barrage of orange, yuzu, charred barrel smoke and honey present themselves all at the same time. Some barbequed fat pokes its way timidly through on deeper whiffs. Palate: This is a thoroughly oily mouthful which works its way easily onto and between the tastebuds. Sweet toffee and honey are the dominant notes. Quite immediately thereafter is a spicy warmth that permeates through the mouth and throat. Finish: long, smoked beef and ham and lemon juice, and of course more of that charred oakwood. Verdict: 8.5/10 this dram punches way above its weight within and beyond its price category. One would do well to pick up a bottle or three if spotted

Aberfeldy 12 Year
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed September 29, 2017 (edited October 6, 2017)Aberfeldy 12 years Colour: Honey golden Nose: the first whiff is greted with lemon zest, new leather, and distinct oaky overtones. A second, deeper nosing reveals a somewhat creamy hint of lard Mouth: a most well rounded, unctuous yet smooth mouthfeel is the highlight of this dram. Texture is creamy, with little zings of citrus and buttery cake (almost like a lemon bundt cake). Leaves an aftertaste of nutty malt and a medium vanilla finish Verdict: 7.5/10
