Glen Grant 12 Year
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed December 12, 2019 (edited July 12, 2020)Nose - Honey, caramel, and light fruitiness, hints of vanilla. Taste - hits the tongue very smooth and mellow. Slight nuttiness at the end with hardly any bite at the finish. Definitely would recommend for a casual or beginning scotch drinker. -
Not too much stands out about this. The color is light and simple. Legs run very thin but hold on a while before sliding down the glass. Nose - inviting at first but seems to have a little burn at the end. Lacks any defining character. Taste - enters with a slight sweet spice, but finishes rather bland with an oaky taste that ends rather abruptly. Bit of a burn at the end.

Glenlivet 14 Year Cognac Cask Selection
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed December 6, 2019 (edited December 14, 2019)Very lovely. Takes a lot of its character from its Cognac cask. The color is a beautiful amber, reflected like a mirror when held up to the sun. The nose is a nice, sickly sweet scent. Hints of of the charred oak and almost a cherry tree sap smell, definitely inspired by the Cognac. Palette delivers much of what would be expected by the nose, after which is settled by a rich, smoky flavour that gently lets the finish go down nice and smoothly.
