Dad's Hat Pennsylvania Rye Whiskey
Rye — Pennsylvania, USA
Reviewed October 30, 2019 (edited December 21, 2019)Only serious rye fans need apply here. High rye ryes aged less than a year have a very distinctive flavor and this one has it in abundance. Think of a young Lot 40. Even at 90 proof, there’s still a ton of flavor going on. For my NC friends, Dad’s Hat isn’t available in our ABC system so go out and get a bottle of Doc Porter Rye. It’s made in a similar way and has a very similar flavor. -

Sagamore Spirit 'Sagamore Reserve' Double Oak Rye (2017 Limited Edition Release)
Rye — (bottled in) Maryland, USA
Reviewed October 7, 2019 (edited August 13, 2021)Only slightly better than Michter’s Toasted Sour Mash but, not by much. I’ve learned I don’t really care for any of these secondary oak finished expressions, except WR Double Oak. They got that one right. -

Sagamore Spirit 'Sagamore Reserve' Double Oak Rye (2017 Limited Edition Release)
Rye — (bottled in) Maryland, USA
Reviewed September 19, 2019 (edited August 13, 2021)I love the Sagamore CS but not this one. The oak hides what I love about rye rather than enhancing it, and the lower proof leaves me wishing for a longer finish.70.0 USD per Bottle
