The smell is amazing! It tastes rich and sweet with a noticable, but gentle smokiness. I lightly taste rye, oak, cherry, honey, leather, and toasted marshmallow. The Abv is a bit high for me, but it's balanced nicely so that I could handle drinking it in small sips. I enjoy Sazerac Straight Rye Whiskey and it has some noticeable similarities, but it feels a lot richer and more refined.

I have tried this bottle on two separate special occasions. It is delicious. It is rich in flavor with a nice burn. The flavor of the rye grain was super prevalent (forward and lasting) throughout, but in a way that was smooth, not at all harsh. I was surprised by how fresh it tasted for being 114 years old. There are no surprises at all with the flavors. The flavors are traditional with the maximal possible richness that can be obtained without it becoming syrupy.
