Tastes

Not very smooth and the finish is bitter. I tried it in a mix and the bitter aftertaste still comes through. Will try and use it up in my usual mixed drink in place of my usual regular Jameson. I will not buy this Limited Reserve again.

I had to buy this a year or two ago because of being a fan of the TV show. I haven't tried it lately but if memory serves me correctly it is drinkable at most. Not what I would call a good sipping whiskey. I even tried it in a mix with Pepsi and I wasted a good can of pop. Not sure what else a person can mix in corn liquor to make it palatable. Another drain cleaner as I don't know what other purpose there is for it.

I bought this a few years ago when I first started buying premium whiskey. I had tried it then and did not care for the burnt aftertaste. They say an opened bottle should be drank from 6 months to 2 years after opening. Well, after 4 to 5 years it still tastes the same bitter taste with a really bad burnt aftertaste. I just don't see that I will ever finish this bottle. Guess it will become a drain cleaner! Just not a fan of scotch whisky. I think I will stick with Irish Whiskey.

Of the 3 or 4 bottles of top shelf premium liqour I have bought in search of a smooth sipping whiskey I have to say this is quite nice. I have a hard time sniffing to get the aroma off of it but that doesn't work as the vapor on any alcohol burns my sinuses so I have to rely on taste. Being one of the cheaper ones I have bought I really like it for the taste and the smoothness of it. Has a nice aftertaste that is mellow and not overpowering. It is actually my preference to choose this one over one that I have paid over twice as much for. It is sad to see this has been discontinued. I am slow at emptying a bottle and I will enjoy this one to the end.

Pick up a bottle today as a present to myself. Been experimenting with some top shelf whiskies and all I can say is spending more is not always better. I have been looking for something smooth to sip on and this isn't bad on being smooth, a little sharp and bitter. The aftertaste really leaves something to be desired as all I get is a charred/burnt wood taste and not much else. I was hesitant on buying and should have stopped when that thought of the high price went through my head.
