Woody notes, but not much else. Hard to taste 12 years of age in this. You can tell it's a higher proof, but it doesn't hit you like one. A little water opens up the smoke a little more, and now brings a certain nuttiness to the table. Not very spectacular, but I think it just needs a little air. Now where did my wife put my decanter...?38.0 USD per BottleLiquor Barn

Old Ezra 7 Year Barrel Strength Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed April 12, 2019 (edited April 17, 2019)You can definitely tell there's a large corn base here. It's for sure hot on the taste, but that's simply because of the barrel strength. Overly sweet if you're basing it on smell, but the alcohol balances it well with a psydo rye flavor. Not so much wood flavor as compared to higher years of age.Ollie's Place Craft Beer and Whiskey -
David Nicholson Reserve Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky (bottled in Missouri), USA
Reviewed April 3, 2019 (edited April 17, 2019)Powerfully wood-fronted, this borders close on "oily" territory. Being paired with this Italian food is the right move. Although the smell is a bit brighter with citrus notes, the age can mellow the night out in seconds. No need to try to break down the finish like crazy; think falling asleep in the rickhouse - wood again.Alfoccino Restaurant -
Hirsch Small Batch Reserve Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Indiana (bottled in Ohio), USA
Reviewed March 31, 2019It's got the barrel age taste, but because the char on the barrels is #2, you get more grain taste than wood.Ollie's Place Craft Beer and Whiskey
