Forty Creek Copper Pot Reserve
Canadian — Ontario, Canada
Reviewed September 30, 2015 (edited May 3, 2016)Once again Forty Creek comes through with an outstanding value whisky. Having had fallen head-over-heels in love with their BARREL SELECT whisky, my expectations might have been too lofty to give the COPPER POT RESERVE a fair critique without a follow-up blind tasting. With this caveat out of the way, this whisky is certainly going to be a palate pleaser for both you and your guests that might early in their whisky journey. Chocolate, vanilla, and cherry notes creates an inviting and accessible product that goes well with aromatic cigars, rich desserts, and just enjoying it neat. -
This is the whisky that got me back into drinking whisky. Why? The warm, spices —cinnamon and ginger— when combined with the sweeter notes of caramel and caramelization create a product that is very welcoming for sipping neat. It doesn't have a lot of oak or vanilla flavours, which allows more ingredients to have their say. Too many products have become too dependent on oak and vanilla. This is not one of them.
