Tastes

Very weird nose. I couldn’t place but definitely didn’t like. Watching “Whiskey Vault” reviews on you tube I heard “green tea and eucalyptus” which kind of explained the smell but also explained why it just isn’t a very enjoyable nose. Hopefully will change a bit with time after being opened.

Smell is amazing. A less oaky version of Woodford double oaked which is one of my other favorites. More fruit and altogether just intoxicating as a smell can be. The palate doesn’t let you down. Sweet but not overly. Oaky but just enough. Smooth. Finish. Enough of a finish to keep you around which is saying something for a “lowish” 93 proof. Altogether amazing. Immediately one of my favorites.

First Rye neat. Not as spicy as expected. Good flavors different than my usual. Getting orange pound cake, which is a good thing! Not getting big red gum finish but a bit of spice lingers. Not hot spice, spice spice. Not bad, but not yet sure if good.

Fruitcake bomb with just the right amount of spice. Long finish.

Yum! Hot but not too much so.
